Level -> Kerry vows to disprove swift boaters (11/16/2007 5:44:52 PM)

quote:

Sen. John Kerry, whose 2004 presidential campaign was torpedoed by critics of his Vietnam War record, said Friday he has personally accepted a Texas oilman's offer to pay $1 million to anyone who can disprove even a single charge of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.

In a letter to T. Boone Pickens, the Massachusetts Democrat wrote: "While I am prepared to show they lied on allegation after allegation, you have generously offered to pay one million dollars for just one thing that can be proven false. I am prepared to prove the lie beyond any reasonable doubt."

Kerry, a Navy veteran and former prosecutor, said he was willing to present his case directly to Pickens, who provided $3 million to bankroll the group during Kerry's race against President Bush.

And the point is?   I mean really who cares?   The election has been over a long long time and he is just now getting around to it?

Y'know, Level, I can easily crack a joke about John Kerry's 3 Purple Hearts in 4 1/2 months simply meaning he was too dumb to duck.  I'm dead serious though, when I recall him standing on his military record when accepting the Democratic Nomination, saying he was "reporting for duty" to the American People, and then throwing the sloppiest salute since Benny Hill.

Shit, I donb't know whether to laugh or to cry. I had forgot about that, how absolutely pathetic that moment was. The "warrior" reporting for duty to lead the Democrats and the "anti-war Left" to victory through the Iraq war "smarter" and how Democrats had worked so hard to torpedo Ralph Nader, the only anti-war candidate in the race. I'd forgotten how disgusting John Kerry was, how pathetic he was. How revolting...

Owner59 -> RE: Kerry vows to disprove swift boaters (11/16/2007 7:44:56 PM)

He served in country, was a hero, and stood for truth and principle.
Commanded a boat, kicked some VC ass, and got wounded. He didn`t go AWAL,or avoid duty in Viet Nam,and he served with distinction.
I see sour grapes and jealousy.

What kind of cowards would stoop so low, as to question a man`s service? This says more about them, than it does Kerry.

This is why swiftboating, has become a metaphor for the most scurrilous and low down of dirty tricks.

As for motivation? A million dollars is enough for that.
Standing up for what`s right and decent,is another good reason for this.

I wonder if Mr.T. Boone Pickens will actually pay up,or just deny he was convinced.

"What kind of cowards would stoop so low, as to question a man`s service? This says more about them, than it does Kerry. "

Every single person who denigrated Bush's service in the Air Nat Guard, questioned a mans service.  That includes you owner59.

What was it you used to say about feigned outrage?

This reminds me of kerry holding a press confrence to say he wanted to answer the "tazer boy's" question, yet he was there with the media and cameras and didn't answer it.  Why didn't he?

It will be interesting to see how this turns out.

popeye1250 -> RE: Kerry vows to disprove swift boaters (11/16/2007 11:01:12 PM)

I wonder if there's a plaque on the White House wall marking the spot where Kerry threw his medals at the WH?

"Oh Lovey! Who are those poor people stuck to the electric fence?"
"They're spoiling my view of the POE-Lo match."

meatcleaver -> RE: Kerry vows to disprove swift boaters (11/17/2007 1:17:11 AM)

I find it ridiculous he had to defend his military record in Vietnam when his opponent was too chicken to go to Vietnam in the first place!

Sanity -> RE: Kerry vows to disprove swift boaters (11/17/2007 7:31:23 AM)

I wasn't questioning his service so much as pointing out how, at that moment, John F. Kerry was the "brave warrior" who was going to  lead the anti-war left into war...

That's what I was describing as pathetic.

Regarding his service, didn't he once claim under oath before the Senate on national television that he is a war criminal

Alumbrado -> RE: Kerry vows to disprove swift boaters (11/17/2007 8:06:48 AM)

So refusing to fork over a million bucks will somehow 'prove' that Kerry is in fact, the only man on the planet to have been awarded the non-existent Silver Star with 'V' device for valor?[sm=biggrin.gif]

Nosathro -> RE: Kerry vows to disprove swift boaters (11/17/2007 9:43:12 AM)

To note remember Kerry never in his campain defended his service record, in fact he during that time refused to produce any documents.  He did claim that he conducted secret missions into Cambodia, but that was disproven, his boat would never made it.  He also went before Congress shortly after his 41/2 month tour and under oath stated US soldiers were commiting a atrocities daily in Viet Nam, but later admitted he never witnessed a single incident.  He has now had a nice long time to doctor any records.  It is also interesting to note that none of his injuries which got him Purple Hearts required nothing more than a bandaid.

Meat, you must be thinking about Clinton.
Bush's unit was never ordered to Vietnam.
Clinton, when he found out that his unit was going to be sent to Vietnam "pulled some strings" with a General in the National Guard and "resigned."
But he tried to do it in such a way so as not to have "political implications for the future."
I'm sure you can google the story.
I'm not defending Bush as I don't like him.
But, he never "refused" to go to Vietnam like Clinton did.
