Went 3 Dog.  They have more diversity.  Sabbath had notoriety and did change the way a few people thought, but from a pure musical appreciation standpoint Dog did better to my ears.

I'm curious about how you came to split them up into the intial groups, Level.  Names out of a hat?

First, I made a list of the ones I wanted to include, then I tried to make sure that some of the "heavy hitters" were split up between the rounds; keep in mind, we have 3 more groupings from the 60s/70s coming up, that's why there are no Zeppelin or Who choices, yet.

I've always liked lists, so compiling all this and splitting it up is actually fun to me.

LOL  Okay..... we'll have a Tubes song, but it's going to be in the upcoming 1980s rounds.

Well, if this acts as a tie-breaker...

I've shared a drink or two with some of the members of Skynyrd... and I caught one of Ronnie James Dio's guitar picks when it was flung into the audience during a Black Sabbath concert.

Not sure how that helps, but perhaps it could be used as a randomized agent within your formulae.

:)

If they end up tied, we'll just take them both (or whoever it is) to the next groupings.

Skynyrd, such a sad story, really.

Good God man, thats an ugly set of choices.
Its not that I don't like any of them
Its just that I don't think any of them is all that fantastic.
Its like a who's who of mediocrity
Three dog night?
Peter Frampton?
ugh.
How about David Bowie who was stormin the gates and taking no prisoners in the early seventies?
Wheres the Who?
Or even Bruce?
