We all have had someone in our lives that we feel we missed out on taking it to the next step.Someone who when we look back, we regret we didn't take the next step. Maybe they were to far away or there was some else in their lives at that time Out here in this lifestyle,has anyone here felt they missed that chance to be with that someone special and would like to share their story?

At the risk of seeming arrogant, I think of them as the ones that missed THEIR chance, not the other way around.

It's a somewhat sad, but inevitable fact of life that often feelings are not returned. If both parties wanted something to go further, it would. At least that's my belief anyway. So if I have missed anything, it would only have been something I'd have to have chloroformed them into anyway, which might have been fine for five minutes, but then a certain hollowness would probably have set in. It's like that oldguard, old school, leatherman saying goes: You can drag a man to a toychest, but you can't make him beat you...

Oh, sure, as you say everyone has someone like that in their lives. In my case, it was this wonderful woman who was part of the same play party group I was in. We were both board members. We got very close, but for some reason or another, we just never really took it any farther. (An example of how running a support group can distract you from the important stuff sometimes.) She later forged a strong relationship with another woman, and then married another man... They're all still living together in Colorado, doing quite well... and I miss them all. But her especially!

Hell yeah! Alot of men use murky wording for wanting to be- "be". [afraid of rejection?] so when i was asked, but in language or manner i did not quite grasp- i did not take the q. damn. it would not have been mr right- but hot sex. on the other hand everyone is an azzhole given enuff time. close promimaty too long strains nerves and it doesnt work. at my age the enjoying close freinds and family is life. i aint doing anyones phyical, psycholigal, social laundry today. only my own. so i made my life- good bad or ugly. :-)

Everyone I am not with there is a reason. Time may dull the memory of exactly why. Although if you got back together with them or had the second chance all of those bad memories would come rushing back when you realize...people really don't change. So no. I have no regrets in life when it comes to significant others.

Well, it wasn’t a BDSM relationship but yes, there was one that I let slip away that I shouldn’t have. You know that old movie cliche where the old man tells the young man to "go tell her you love her"? That’s good advice. I should have followed it but I didn’t. So now I guess all I can do is pour a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon and sing... "Red... Red... Wine.." Come on everyone! With feeling... ! tis better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all? well, i don't know...when i love, i love wth all that i am...and it hurts when that love is not returned...but as long as i can grow from the experience it was not a bad one...and if i had not experienced all that i had, i would not be the person that i am today...and i would not have all that i have to offer that i do... what good does light do without a dark to put it in? chelle

There is only one relationship from my past that I sometimes view through the filter of longing and romanticizing. It was years ago and I've remained friends with him. As others have said, things happen or not for a reason. I got over trying to analyze the reasons.

I sometime question choices I have made throughout my life. Did I turn in the right direction? What would life have been like had I not made those choices? Then I try to remember that, at the time, I had a good reason for picking the one I did.

I can't say I have any regrets. Every past relationship regardless of how long or how short or what happened taught me something about who I am, and those have shaped me into who I am now; I don't have any regrets, I don't believe in them. Their is ALWAYS a reason things didn't work out - distance, cmpatability, abuse, whatever, their was a reason, and we are not together right now, so why regret something you cannot change?!
