Since my experience in sadomasochism is pretty much zero, particularly compared to yours, even if it was common, I probably wouldn't have encountered it. But I'd like to make the comment that this seems pretty interesting, from the psycological standpoint. For me, personally, the pains that bother me the absolute most are the ones that I can't identify. Probably contributes pretty strongly to my phobia of needles, since I never know exactly what they're doing inside of my body. Even headaches, when I can't identity if they're a migrane or sineous, can blow up. Little itches that might be a splinter after I've worked with wood, even though if I didn't think there was a possibility of a splinter, I would normally hardly even make a passing notice of.. I wonder if your sensation is similar? If it's because you don't even know if it's actually a stone, or feel that the stone shouldn't be there? Or any other ideas why it might bug you so much?
