Pat Robertson, founder of the Christian Coalition and the Christian Broadcast Network, endorsed Rudy Guiliani for President. A surprise endorsement according to analysts.
So much for the idea that the religious right wants to split from the GOP. It looks like they hate Hillary so much that they are willing to suppot a candidate that is moderate on abortion and supports gay rights.

"Rudy Giuliani took a city that was in decline and considered ungovernable and reduced its violent crime, revitalized its core, dramatically lowered its taxes, cut through a welter of bureaucratic regulations, and did so in the spirit of bipartisanship which is so urgently needed in Washington today," Robertson said.

As a Rebublican, I -hate- Pat Robertson.  He's a symbol of everything that's wrong with the ultra-religious Right that's hijacked the party.

Wait one second. Is this a joke?

I mean. Guiliani? Didn't Robertson ever hear of Guiliani's exploits, indicating corrupt moral character?

The serial unfaithfulness, and inability to honor his marriage vows?

That trully is a bizarre candidate for a religious person to support. Sorta like supporting a person that is the antithesis of what you supposedly believe for the sake of "what?", favors, I'd guess. It isn't abortion, or gay issues, or marriage (divorced what 3 times). Hrmmmm, what are they endorsing again. Weird. I mean there is a preacher on the repub ticket, LOL, and Ron Pauls, brothers are preachers, and I think both of those guys are on there first wife as well. Just saying, if your going to claim to a devout christian(pat robertson), it would seem you'd only endorse someone that is at least fractionally in line with what your God says. LOL. Hell, romney, or even hillary would be better in that regard.

Pat Robertson, what a hypocrite. 100% verified

but pat believes 9/11 is gods punishment for all the queers and shit, so since rudy is big into 9/11---------god forgives a sinner.

Rudy just signed his death warrant and nobody is gonna look for his support when the campaign trail gets tough and people have to drop.

Bad fuckin' move, rudy!

The reason it is big is because for the past several months there are these rumors flying around that if the GOP nominates Rudy...that the Religious Right will split from the GOP and nominate their own candidate and that could have pulled nearly 10% of the vote away from the Republican party. But now that Pat Robertson has done this, it makes that chance much less likely.

The christian coalition is not the religious right........see falwell (now his heirs for that, whomever they may be).

The proof being the vote count for pat robertson, erstwhile presidential candidate.

His headcount was not 10% of a sardine can.

Ron
added: and as fucked up as the republicans are, they would be off the table until the next civil war should they back Rudy.

The religious right comprises closer to 40% of the Republican party.

I am not sure it is HilaryPhobia, because she wont upset the status quo regarding the war, finances, etc., it is Democratophobia because the Republican party has spent the last 6 years proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are not fiscally responsible, conservative, caring for the environment, ethical, or moral.  Which is not to say the Democrats are necessarily any better, but perception trumps reality, and the Republicans face another 30+ years of no control of the legislative branch.

United the Republican party and the religious right have a chance to maintain and possibly increase their power base, although the specific issues will be a source of arguments in the party forever.  Divided they dont stand a chance.

What is amusing to me is how the followers of a religion that posits itself as moral and ethical and all that would throw aside the basic tenets of their faith and sell the soul of their religion to the devil in order to maintain and / or increase their power over others.  I saw amusing, and not surprising, because this sort of thing has historically signalled the death knell of that religion or philosophy.

Just me, etc.

I doubt it, Sinergy...

The problem is the Democrats never fail to screw up when they are in the majority... When they had congress and the presidency during Jimmy Carter...what happened? Ronald Regan.
When Clinton was elected and Democrats had the congress....what happened? They lost congress in 1994.

Democrats tend to go all out with a left-wing agenda whenever they have a majority. And they only end up screwing up or spooking the electorate. If Hillary wins and the Dems hold congress....the Dems will lose congress in 2010 and I'm wiling to bet money on that.
The Dems will try socialized healthcare (HillaryCare 2.0) and that is going to fail miserably. Democrats want to pass the dream act which basically is the same as amnesty for illegal aliens (something most Democrat voters dont even approve of). Democrats cant wait to raise taxes so everyone will be paying more money to a government they dont approve of. The war will still not be over because you know damn well Democrats will change nothing of our foreign policy....they havnt changed our policy since Harry Truman...why would they start now?

So the Democrats will end up adopting a very, very unpopular government and instead of fixing problems, they will try to push through a liberal agenda. It's going to be a disaster and it will trigger a new age of Republican rule in 2010. Watch and see.... History repeats. If Dems cant fix the problems, they will be out on their ass just as fast.

Hillary could end up being even more unpopular than Bush. Hillary already has an unfavorable rating of 48% and she's not even the nominee yet. So she's not going to have the approval ratings her husband enjoyed.

This is just plain bazarre.  I think it`s great news though, for dems.

What`s hard to square is, Jerry Falwell`s comment that is was the pagans, gays, abortionists, feminist, lesbians the ACLU,People for the American Way,all who have tried to secularize America, that helped 9/11 happen."I point t he finger in your face"
They were blaming America,for pissing off god,who in turn,made 9/11 happen.Roberson, agrees w/ him.Fuck`n nut jobs.

Do you think that we here on CM,would be added to this list?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zkaQXHSjug

It wasn`t any of those things or people, that made 9/11 happen. What crap! What a self-serving and ugly thing to say.

It was Arab fundies and oil money, that brought those towers down.

Rudy`s towers.

How the fuck can the mayor of NYC,the mayor who watched our towers fall,be in the same room, let alone accept the endorsement of the guy who agreed with that crap?! Robertson said he "concurred whole heartedly".

Rudy,... is disgusting. Run Rudy run....

Ugh..  I don't care who Pat Robertson endorses... I'd vote for Guiliani over Clinton or whatever... but I'd prefer someone who was actually a REPUBLICAN.

[sarcasm]

Good point.  The Republicans have proven consistently that they never, ever, screw up when they are in the majority.

[/sarcasm]

It is entirely possible that the screwing up could be a function of people and power, and not a function of which political party is in power.

Term limits:  One in power, one in prison.

Just me, etc.
