I deleted my profile because I am not looking right now. But people are telling me that makes me look suspicious on this site. I am not sure if the people commenting are just being nasty or if is really a problem.

I deleted my profile yesterday and  I was planning on leaving this site COMPLETELY.

But today I find myself hanging around the boards because I had some questions.

I don't want to go make a profile now just because some people might be rude. But I don't want to look bad to everyone either

If you are going to come over here and say something like this; make sure you get it right.

I did not say that having no profile makes you look suspicious.

I said that I would be cautious of anyone who came to the forums, with no active profile; and had the nerve to then complain about others, who DO have profiles up; simply because they did not list their interests in the profile.

Get it right hun.

You can have one but just leave everything blank. Or just say "Not Looking". I think I'd recommend that because no profile makes people suspicious that you're a troll. Not that I believe you are, but flamers tend to not have them so you might be getting lumped in with them.

Why not something funny like "Profile under construction" or "Road closed, take detour", or even "Nothing to see here folks, keep moving". And don't be so hasty to leave, there are people you won't like here, but there also will be people you do like.

If you decided to hang around then you should at least have something in your profile, if nothing but "Not interested, Not looking or even Can I Get A F---- You".

Um, if you're not looking and you're planning to leave the site completely, why the hell do you even care what anyone here thinks?  Even if you weren't planning on that, why would you care?  I don't mean to sound nasty or anything, but does my opinion really matter to you?

I do have it right. When I was here I was contacted by some guy who did not have a list filled out and it was a concern..hun.  My list was filled out completely.

I am no longer looking! That is how I have the nerve!

Why do I need to have a profile filled out if I am no longer looking?

It's your choice, have a profile or don't. Realise though that without a profile if you offer advice or strong opinion it makes it seem as if you have nothing to back it up with.

I don't have a profile for Estring. If it bothers anyone, too bad. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.

I gotta agree.  Just do what you want.  According to the complaints here, no one reads profiles anyway...LOL!

Because I hoped to come back in six months and I really wanted to be an accepted member of this community.

I came to ask questions about an issue that bothered me in the past and I get

"you have some nerve asking that- look at you"

I wasn't trying to offend the people who don't fill their interests out. I even stated that this wasn't about anyone here! It was about a bad experience I had a year ago on another site!

I was wondering if I should be concerned  or if I should look at it as a red flag because I went through HELL last year.

Desiring external validation is a passive-agressive method of narcissism. Find your own path and do not seek popular approval.

I understand what you're saying, but there's a couple of things here.
This is just a website, not a community.  If you have questions, ask them.  People are going to answer whatever they want..I don't think your having or not having a profile has any bearing on their answers.  Now, I could be wrong.  But if someone gives you a nasty answer, just ignore him/her.

We'll I'm not trying to convince you.  So I told you my feelings about the matter. But hey you do what you want.

As I said earlier you said you decided to hang around.  With that I figure it's nice to have a little ditty.  You DON'T HAVE to do a damn thing

I agree... but, if people's comments bother you so much, then be more compliant.  Open that profile with "NOT LOOKING"  and nothing else.  But, don't start a thread on people who don't fill out the interest lists if you don't have one yourself.

Or if you have big boobs, jump up and down a lot when you get excited / angry / happy frustrated / sad.

Um. You know, come to think of it though, I don't know if you're a man or woman, so if you're a man you can pick your own sexually inappropriate suggestion.

For those who participate in the forums, having some sort of profile available seems like a basic courtesy to those you interact with.  Who is this person?  Male or female?  How old?  Where from?  Simple information that will allow others a basic knowledge of who they are talking to.

"Profile not found" isn't going to encourage me to respond to any kind of question in the forums.  And if you plan to post often, but don't want a pic on your profile, find a nice avatar.
