subfever -> Mature Date Link (11/5/2007 11:25:21 AM)

Last week I recently surfed into a site called Mature Date Link. Curious to see the profiles, I typed in the minimum required profile info to join for "free." However, I soon discovered that you must become a paying member to actually read the profiles and retrieve messages. Naturally, I became annoyed and just moved on.

As of this writing, I've received 48 messages from 48 different profiles... averaging exactly 6 per day, and arriving at different hours. On one hand, I find this highly suspicious, since my profile is sketchy and photoless. On the other hand, sending 48 messages seems to be too great of an investment in time and effort just to tempt me to join the site.

Does anyone have any experience with this site?

Never heard of it, but I'd bet you a dollar all those e-mails are as computer-generated as the ones I get from the all-pagan dating site I visited once, three years ago.

That or you've hit the Mother-Lode of Nigerians

Well send in that money, sign-up, and read those emails, dangit.  You're a popular dude....

No experience with That particular site but......over the years I've run into the same thing on the 'commercial' sites. Those emails are 'bots'. Generated by computer or employees to lure you in. If you puruse enough sites, you'll find the same phenomenon as well as the same 'hot chic' fotos used over and over again. Don't bother to look back.

That's what I was afraid of. Just seemed too-good-to-be-true.

BTW... it's now 87 and counting.

The good news is... they didn't get me. But now I've got to stop this barrage of e-mail coming into my in-box.

edited for typo

I don't have any experince with that site, but 100 percent free to join, but you have to pay to do anything else is pretty common.

Your email should have a block function, or a way to mark something as spam.  Just take one of the emails and mark it as "unsafe" or however your particular email site does it.
