Dnomyar -> Explanations (10/30/2007 10:44:34 AM)

How many explanations are needed for a post to be answered. It seems that several explanations on some post say the same thing. So back to the original question.

pahunkboy -> RE: Explanations (10/30/2007 10:54:38 AM)

Could you be more specific?

GhitaAmati -> RE: Explanations (10/30/2007 11:24:24 AM)

I think it would depend on the post and what question is being asked. Sometimes a post can be answered with one response....say if the question is in the off topic thread and asked "Does anyone know who the Jaguars are playing this weekend"....well..that could be answered with one post...but say...the question is "what is everyones opinion of using onions in your play sessions"...well..Im sure there are just as many answers to that question as there are members.

Sometimes, the question has been answers years ago and someone feels the need to resurect a dead thread and add something compelatly non relevent......

When you ask a question on this forum it is like getting on a podium in a very large room with about 10,000 people in it. But I don't see this as a bad thing for two reasons.

1. Everybody doesn't know everything and

2. Those who do are wrong about some things :-)

I say don't look a gift forum in the source code. If you wanted to stay low key, you could mail people. You could ask me about electronics, Merc about getting a massage in Vegas (and a bunch of other things I'm sure), and Vad about metalworking. But how would you know that ?

So you throw it out there and see who bites. Sometimes it gets chewed up, but the variety of viewpoints is, is ,is, I guess the whole point of a forum.

While I do agree that some threads get way too long, that is just the nature of the beast.

Another thing about CM, at times it moves faster than a real time chatroom. I am serious. I could be on IRC and nobody has said anything for a few minutes, come back here and find three posts were sent in that time. Sometimes you write a reply and find that someone has gotten in edgewise so to speak. By the time you click on "Return to the forum" it can happen.

And then there are those hot topics, like politics. This is where it is proven that opinions are just like assholes, everybody has one. I am not calling anyone an asshole, read the words. Everybody HAS one. And when it comes to certain topics people are very determined to get their point of view out there. That is simply human nature.

There are also subjects that should not be brought here. For example Hitler/Nazis, Jews/Bolsheviks, D6MRD and a few other things. They are simply too volatile. There is enough already going on in the political subjects.

You look at some threads and see the posting time and dates. Sometimes they are coming in like every three seconds. At times I think this is one of the fastest moving forums online.

So I guess you just have to get used to it. We got what 13,000 members ? You KNOW something is going on. It's not unusual to get ten answers to one question. Hopefully one of them will be right :-)
