DiannaVesta -> Servants of Destiny - Tammy Jo Eckhart (10/27/2007 10:00:58 AM)

I rarely write an Amazon review on a book. Its not that I don't think there are good books, but I read so much and almost never have time for fiction. Tammy Jo sent me her book as part of a thank you. I have read other short fiction pieces by Tammy Jo through the years but had forgotten what an incredible fiction writer she really is. Most of us know her as the astute academic, however when you read her fiction you can really dial into the passion that’s burning inside this Domina.

Anyhow, it sat on my nightstand for a while. I dusted it and kept reminding myself that I should read it. Her other works were short stories and I wasn’t sure I would have time for an erotic novel. One Saturday morning I took my cappuccino back to bed and decide to read it. I finished it over the weekend and honestly couldn’t put it down. This book truly stimulated me and really got my own imagination going. It’s not mystery I do phone domination and that weekend anyone that called got a serious dose of my imagination fueled by the power of Marelda, the books dominant heroine!

Let’s face it there is not much good femdom fiction out there written for women to appreciate. This is so not the case with this book. I have many years experience as a lifestyle mistress and I can tell you that not only did I find it sexually erotic but it left me infused confidence within my own dominant power.

Marelda’s journey is intense, heroic and erotic. When you read about her search and her relationship with Dolan you can recall situations in your own journey. I found it highly reflective. The only disappointment was that it ended too soon. My hope is that now that she’s a DOCTOR (congrats btw) she’ll remember her fans and write a sequel to this incredible book.

You can find this book and others at Amazon. Just do a search for “Tammy Jo Eckhart”.

  Anyone here read it?

I am also including a link to the podcast interview we did some months back before the actual release of her book. I know I posted a link here but in case you missed it you can find it CLICK HERE

I read it about half way and liked it, admitting like you, I don't do a lot of fiction reading, but than life fell apart for a while, and I misplaced the book.  Am now considering ordering another from Amazon, my current favorite although addicting place to shop.    M

Thank you, Dianna and FullfigRIMaam.

It's always good to hear that people like my work.

I know that I tend to write about fairly harsh worlds and the aftermath of abusive situations though my heroines are not the abusers. That's drawn from my own life path placed onto fantasy or science fiction worlds.

Thanks for the heads up!
I shall have a look for it.

Folks can find all of my books on Amazon.com by using either Tammy Eckhart or TammyJo Eckhart I think -- there are 6 books in total but only 3 in print. The earlier three some times show up as 'used' but personally I think the prices are insane and I don't get any royalties from resells. "Sweet Memories" has some out of print stories in it any way.

RosaB -> RE: Servants of Destiny - Tammy Jo Eckhart (10/28/2007 9:59:58 AM)

Thanks for the info.  Its rare to find Femdom material that holds my attention for long and so your take on Tammy Jo's books has my interest peaked.  I will head over to Amazon in a bit to look for the books.

=============================================

Tammy Jo,

Congratulations on your many accomplishments.  I'm very much looking forward to reading your work.

Thank you, MistressDolly and RosaB.

"Servants of Destiny" is my fifth book. My sixth one came out in September. Some of you may remember the "contest" I had to title it -- the winning was sent a signed copy of that book.

MsBearlee -> RE: Servants of Destiny - Tammy Jo Eckhart (10/28/2007 5:24:49 PM)

I bought it months ago, after reading a couple others by TammyJo.  I like how she portrays the FemDom; a strong female who likes men!  Her book of short stories was lots of fun, too.

I bought it, I read it, I left comments on Amazon about it.  I like supporting 'our own'.  LOL

Why dont we have a section here on CM for fiction? I would love to upload some of my S&M oriented stuff.... judging from the response of my "The Alpha Dog, the Moon Goddess, and Her leash" thread, I am willing to bet my fiction would be popular! [:D]

Thanks...

We have a section/forum at http://forum.femsupreme.com with some great fiction. In fcat Tammy Jo has quite a few book reviews there of other books she has reviewed. Very good. I love that title btw.

Tammy Jo I hope one day you will consider self publishing & write more books like SoD

I've looked into self publishing and frankly it's too much time and money that I frankly don't have. I have to balance my academic writing with my fiction writing.

I'd love it if some main stream publisher would get brave enough to put out SM books without requiring a murder or mystery or drug theme that much of the time seems to undermine any positive portrayal of SM or Ds.

MsBearlee -> RE: Servants of Destiny - Tammy Jo Eckhart (10/29/2007 9:06:38 AM)

A new friend here on Cm has published a wonderful little story here:

The author, AFlyInYourWeb, is working on Part II...which I seriously look forward to reading!

This is true. When I publish I will self publish but I also have a marketing background.  Just keep writing when you can. Wjo knows what could happen one day.[;)]

Wow, thanks everyone!  I hate buying books that aren't worth the paper they are written on and now I can feel confident that my money won't be wasted this time around!  I love a good book especially about the lifestyle.  They are so hard to find!  Thank you!

I did a quick search for ya:  Here are more lists:

Have you bought a copy of Writer's Market and looked for erotica/romance publishers? There are several, maybe not geared specifically towards S&M, but im sure they would publish you under the erotica genre just fine.

The problem with romance especially is that there is a formula that you must follow. I, personally, not very good at following a formula and I also, personally, dislike the traditional romance formula. Many erotica publishers also actively reject anything that has more than a tickle and spank in it or female dominance according to the publishers I've looked at.

I was at a convention this summer with a fairly well known erotica author who does include some light bondage and spanking in her work but when she heard my stuff, even though she said she really liked it, she told me it was too intense for publishes she knows about.

I won't turn down my intensity because it comes from deep inside me.

Thank you for the suggestions, AllforFun. If you happen to hear about a more mainstream publisher who is taking more risks, let me know and I'll look into it.

For now my books are available readily on Amazon.com if not your local bookstore -- you can always ask your local bookstore to get my books for you too.

Right now I'm more thinking ahead to peer reviewed scholarly publishers for my dissertation once I revise it and submitting some articles to journals in my field. Plus I have a conference in May I have to finish a paper for -- the paper is entitled "Diodorus and the Fear of Matriarchy" which I'm sure would bore many of you near to death.

Blah blah blah. I'll stop chattering away now.
