Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto returned to Pakistan after 8 years in exile. Terrorists detonated two bombs near a convoy carrying Bhutto in the city of Karachi. Over 110 people are confirmed dead, over 200 others injuried, and the toll is expected to climb as witnesses say the streets are littered with blood and body parts. One of the bombs hit just in front of the truck carrying Bhutto. She was unharmed in the attack. Bhutto is famous for being the first female head of state of an Islamic country back in the early 90s. She was forced to step down due to corruption allegations which she denies. She is returning to Pakistan hoping to lead the liberal party to victory in uncoming elections in January as President Pervez Musharraf faces legal challanges to his rule. She is expected to seek a premiership and a partnership with Musharraf. She has become a top target of Al-Queda, the Taliban, and other terror groups in the region for her liberal views, pro-western ideology, and a committment to rid Pakistan of Islamic extremists. Al-Queda is suspected to be responsible for the attack. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071018/ap_on_re_as/pakistan
