one of the biggest things that sucks about legal gaurdianship....at least here in texas...if the courts decide you, as a legal gaurdian aren't doing a good enough job for any reason what so ever, they can hand over your gaurdianship to the state or a state agency...i see the courts threaten my grandmother with this who has legal gaurdianship over my older brother who has downs syndrome all too often...

edited to add: this is in the case of someone declared mentally incompetent...maybe different in different situations

That's a good point to consider, however, if the adopted person is actually an adult who would be in everyway deemed mentally sound and capable of taking care of him/herself, there is no way the court can take them away. That only applies to minors or people with disabilities that are actual dependants in the technical sense. Now, if someone gets declared incompetant and has a legal guardian instated then I do believe the state has the right to intervene. And that could get quite messy in a bdsm situation.

How long have you known this man, this seems like a very rash step if you have only known him for a short time, there are plenty of other ways you can have that 'owned' feeling without making one this big.

Have some sort of ceremony where you pledge yourself to him, wear his collar, immerse yourself into being his total slave, but making such a big step, a legal step.
