My submissive and I are moving into a apartment complex and I'm concerned about the "noises" we make may be heard through the wall. I realize that we have the option to use gags change play styles etc. What I need to know is there any cheep easy way to sound proof  the wall so we can let loose w/o worrying about scaring the villagers lol.

Thanks, Phoenix & raven

Egg cartons. Specifically, the part that cradles the egg.

and if you want to spend money there are some great options too.

might i suggest getting to know your neighbors? create a relationship so that they knock on the door first before calling the cops?

also will you have a play space? have you decided where you are going to live? could you ask the super what his exp with noise is?

tell him you love to sing musicals and dont want to bother the neighbors...lol

good luck! and congrats!

Honestly...carpeting, yes on the walls...I've seen it done and it looks very nice too. Perhaps cork tiles would also work. Now cheap easy and ugly would be that egg create foam mattress pad you can get at walmart or kmart and staple it to the walls.

Thanks for the link that seems like a good long term solution. In the mean time so we don't interrupt our flow of scenes. I'll probably use egg crate padding

Egg cartons and then drapes hung over them...velvet is good humg from cornice poles along the top of the ceiling instead of across the top of window...............alternatively create a vow of silence

Oh yes thanks for reminding me of this. When I lived in Russia and had an apartment in Moscow, the Leninski area, the rugs were all hung on the walls as the floors were beautiful wooden parke flooring. I also had a floor to ceiling mirror with gold frame...the mirror was made up of glass tiles and they were 'cracked' glass too....sooooo decadent What with that and the vodka all in all it was a rather wonderful experience......

Now that sounds like something right out of James Bond. Nice.

The apartments I lived in before were impossible. Bedrooms were back to back and I could hear everything. I wouldn't play in an apartment or motel room unless the people next door were nonexistent or understanding and friends.

raven says:
we're moving into a "town house" type apartment, 2 floors, squished together with 5 other apartments in a row. if we're lucky, we'll get an end apartment! (waiting for an opening right now.) i doubt the walls are very thick, and kinky sounds echo in a small bedroom, especially a hard smack on the ass! we will definitely have to get to know the neighbors, perhaps one of them will be a screamer and we'll just have an agreement to ignore each other *lol*

i LOVE the idea of velvet curtains down the sides of the room!! i just got a sewing machine and i'm itching to make all sorts of cool things for our new nest.

egg cartons ... hmmmm ... we'd have to eat a LOT of eggs *giggles*

Don't forget to make a lot of white noise in rooms you aren't using when you're playing.

A few cheap 20" fans should do the trick.

There's a pretty good article here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soundproofing.

And here: http://www.soundproofing101.com/

And here: http://www.domesticsoundproofing.co.uk/

The good news is that you probably don't have to stop bass-sounds as they are the hardest to control. On the other hand you probably will need som "room-in-room" solution. Rockwool produces different types of hard bats that you can insulate walls, floor and ceiling with - basicly it's the same procedure as normal heat insulation. It's not too expensive and relatively easy to put up yourself (I've done it many times). Ask your hard ware store for advice. They'll know. It's important you get qualified advice as you'd else risk wasting money and time on a solution that doesn't work.

Egg cartons will not really decrease the sound LEAVING the room - they will, how ever, change the acoustics inside the room making the sound very "dry".

Good luck!
