Yeah, it's sarcasm but Im just tired of studies being done on things we already know about. A new study out shows that high blood pressure, high pulse, and high BMI in early adulthood may cause heart failure later in life.

DUH!

What is the point of doing studies on things that are already common knowledge? I mean who doesn't know that high BP is a risk factor for heart problems? It doesn't take a doctor to figure that out.

WOW....

I have low blood pressure, a low purse and low BMI; does that mean that my risk level is lower?? Sure, throw in medical and family history and you change things.

They do studies because its a great way to spend money saying the same thing over ad over and over; just like asking the same things over and over and over and expecting different results; its called, "insanity." The government is full of it [among other things].

The other day a woman I work with had a heart attack. She isn't overweight and doesn't have high BP. She is 36.

The day after that, my ex called to tell me that he had a heart attack last week. When he was in the hospital they told him it was his 2nd. He kind of remembers when the 1st happened but had attributed it to other things. He is an athlete, does construction for a living and is built like a brick shithouse. He doesn't have high BP either. He's 38.

The way I figure it is that I am going to die someday. I might have a heart attack, waste away with cancer, die under the knife of a surgeon or get smacked by a truck. I don't know how it's going to happen...but I can tell you one thing for sure....right up until the moment that I die....I'm gonna live.

The point of the research is reduce unemployment among researchers.

For all the lofty ideals I so often tout, would you be surprised to learn that I typically spend hours each week staring at circles?  And I don't mean like the circles on fountians in parks, or in art I find on Google Images.  No, I mean circles on the paper I've drawn.

I'm convinced there's something about them that we don't yet understand.  And such is often the case with such studies that seem mundane to outside observers.

Then again, this isn't to say that the case that sundownhawk so aptly stated isn't common, or, perhaps, far more common.  When you need the money, right?  ;)

I really like it when they flip flop. Lower your cholesterol, but wait, now there is reseach saying that you should not go too far below 200 or there is a risk.

The butter/margarine thing flipped and flopped a few times.

Problem is sometimes important research is swept under the rug. When olestra came out I heard aboiut the dangers of it, once, just once. And why haven't they outlawed aspartame ?

And why is there such a s void in data pertaining to white sugar ? Why isn't there a label on table salt "Hey, we put some shit in this that'll kill you, if we didn't mix it, the package would say 'do not eat'" ?.

Big money controls what research is done and what is not. It also has a bearing on the outcome. If you are testing a new drug, they do not want to hear that it's a useless chemical that kills people, they are trying to sell the drug. They pay your salary. What do you do ?

Breaking news : You are what you eat. If you do not eat right you will die. The difference is if you eat right you might die by getting run over by a bus at 95 walking out of a brothel.

More breaking news, I have friends who refuse to eat right. I have talked to them but they are habit based creatures. Otherwise intelligent they cannot change certain habits. I haven't said this yet, but I think a guy walking around with a lollypop in this mouth at age 38 is disgusting. His taste has not changed as it should. He has had more than one heart attack. At age 38.

Here I got some research for ya, wanna know what to eat and what not to ? It is simple. The acid test is this - Has it been in existence for at least 100 years ?

And I don't even agree about high BP. Hundreds of years ago when Men fought with swords and shields, just what do you think their BP was out on the battlefield ? I submit that what they call high BP nowadays is not high at all. It is a weakness in our circulatory system caused by deficiencies that make us unable to tolerate the BP levels of people in the past.

How high is high ?

I also submit that obesity is not a causative factor in diabetes. I contend that the underlying factors which cause the obesity are what causes diabetes. Big money does not want to research that so links and cites are scarce to say the least. The plain and simple fact is that obesity is caused by malnutrition.

There is another fact that may astound some, a sodium deficiency can cause high BP. You cannot properly metabolise the sodium in modern table salt. You need foods that have natural sodium in them.

I think there should be a national public initiative. Perhaps a website where people with a bit of a brain could go and request that certain research be done. After all it is our money. Once a certain number of people request a certain course for the research to take, it is performed without bias. Big money would shit their pants if anything of the sort were to happen.

Tell you this much, some of the research I would request would be statistical in nature and therefore not all that expensive. If big money were to stay out of it we might get some empirical data.

But if I say "ask this question", big money will say, "no, ask this question". As much as I avoid doing this, if you want something on how statistics are made to lie there is an old movie out there. Fiction, and I am surprised it ever made it to the screen. It's called "The Palermo Connection" and has James Belushi playing a big city mayor who decides to buck the trend. I guess the Belushis like drugs, but I have no problem with that. Even though it killed John, it was his life to spend as he saw fit.

There is another aspect of research as it stands in it's current form that I take exception to, other factors. If I were to ever run any type of medical study, I would require all participants to write down everything they eat, drink and smoke. If you are testing a new drug or supplement, you need to know if the participant eats wholesome foods like salads, the right amount of meat and fat and just enough carbs, or if they live on mallow cups. When they ignore such factors they negate the results of any research of this kind. You just can't trust the results without knowing these factors.

So I ignore most of the results of modern research and look for answers in my own hueristic reasoning. My results might not always be right, but one thing is for sure, neither are their's. Actually I do not ignore it completely, but I take it not with a grain, but a cup of high grade unrefined seasalt, with all 90 minerals. In other words, the results of modern establishment research are not always totally useless.

And the cookie cutter mentality. We are all the same under the skin is bullshit. What are the races of the participants ? Take that and diet into consideration and seperate the results for each group, then you might get some valid data. But the way they do it now is total bullshit. They run a test on all sorts of people without regard to their specific body chemistry or diet. Or environment for that matter. Then they draw conclusions that are supposedly going to apply to everyone. I can think of no better recipe for failure.

Planned failure. In the US we spend more on healthcare yet have somewhere near the poorest health in the world. Our infant mortality rate is compared to third world countries, although US residents might not hear about it all that often.

If doctors and researchers in this country were paid based on overall performance they would have trouble getting minimum wage. And even in my opinion, a doctor should not make more money than a veterinarian. Now a surgeon might be a different story, there are alot of surgeries perfomed on humans that are exceedingly complex and as such a vet just doesn't have to deal with it.

If I get sick and I can't get a vet to look at me, I would rather be seen by an iridologist than most MDs. A strong statement since I have very little faith in iridology. Might try some other form of homeopath, but I'll burn that bridge when I come to it.

And why ? And why is this germaine to this discussion ? Research. When you have a licensed MD, that license depends on him sticking with the establishment story, the established falshoods that are touted as facts. He is financially bound to never think outside the box.

Lawyers. In this country you are supposed to have the cousel of your choice if charged with a crime. But if they are not a licensed lawyer the can only appear as an amicus curiae (sp). Likewise a vet cannot prescribe for you the the mineral supplement compound they give to million dollar race horses any more than a lawyer can bring up serious Constitutional issues.

And my friends, this is not by accident. If you want more I got alot more. How it got this way. It was a plan and now some people are very rich, and they pay their cohorts, both unwitting and otherwise, very well. And it is our money. Well it was.

Realize this, I am not stupid. I skipped a third of the questions in an IQ test and came out 168. I know how to get rich. I do not want to be rich. I could be at the drawing board designing something and then going down into the basement to make it, but I have lost my taste for money. I make good money but I give a significant amount of it away. I got good credit but no savings. I made it this way. IMO money is the worst thing to have, as such I almost never sell anything. It goes against the grain of my being.

You know that good feeling people get when they get money ? Well I do not have that at all, in fact it is almost a negative experience for me. As such my motives have changed.

Other people's motives can be determined by examining their actions, and it keeps coming back to money. Fools.

But that is what they are taught. Taught by other fools. Wreck the world, hurt people's health, bomb here and wreck the economy there. All for money.

No race, creed, color or religion has a monopoly on this crime any longer. Anytime they enrich anyone, that person wants to stay rich. There are always bigger players in the game and you listen up or get out of the club. It is that simple.

Speaking of research, does anyone remember if they say margarine or butter is better this week ?

Common knowledge isn’t actually that common as most people think and believe in different things. If you can convince someone with cold hard facts that they should look after themselves more in their early and middle-aged years then maybe they’ll actually believe you. Usually they prefer to think you are just trying to spoil their fun by saying look after yourself.

Having said that you can still quote statistical links between smoking and various forms of cancer but some will still come up with rubbish such as: “My dad smoked all his life, he smoked so much there was smoke coming out of his arse but he lived a long happy life.”
