You know, it's odd, I've never felt proud or disgusted with myself based on my ancestor's actions. I have been proud of or disgusted for them, but don't reflect it on myself.
The way I look at it, all my ancestors gave me was a name and genetic material. That does not make me them, nor them me. I may want to kill people at times, but that doesn't mean I'm killing people now. I'm not committing any act for government or King, my actions and choices are my own.
If someone were to ask me what I would do for the Indians, I'd say, let them run the show for a few decades. The North American society, such as it is, has evolved over the centuries and is simply not what it once was. I wouldn't presume an Indian to be any more or less capable than a Caucasian, and would not assume them to be capable or incapable of an equal amount of greed. I think we would discover that too much has been changed to arbitrarily turn the clock back, and that what the system needs now is more independent thinkers and honest folk, regardless of race.
