Come on, we have to have a thread for us hockey fans, don't we?

Who are your favorite teams, players, etc?

I've been a lifelong Pens fan and I can't wait to see what Sid the kid and company will do this year. What about your teams?

With $Bill gone and a ton of young talent, I hope to see a thriving Blackhawks team this year.

The Pens have a lot of talent.

quote:

After a surprising turnaround last season, the young and talented Pittsburgh Penguins enter 2007-08 with very high expectations.   The Penguins hope to pick up where they left off as they open their season on the road Friday against the Carolina Hurricanes.   Pittsburgh made the fourth-biggest improvement in NHL history last season, going 47-24-11 after recording just 22 wins in 2005-06. The Penguins advanced to the playoffs before losing in five games to eventual Eastern Conference champion Ottawa in the first round.   Now, the team is being mentioned as a legitimate Stanley Cup contender for this season.

I'm not a huge fan, but I'll watch a game on occasion. Bruins, Rangers, Stars, Canadians, Blackhawks, and Leafs are cheered on; I like the older teams, generally.

Go Bolts! With 2 of last year's top 5 point earners, Chris Gratton back, and the world at our door step, I'm feeling really good about our chances for another visit with Lord Stanley's cup. I was in effin China the last time they won. Had to fly out after game 3. My gf at the time was supposed to tape it for me and I was doing my best to avoid any coverage until my return. She forgot to tape anything but game 7. grrrrrr

OLN is now Versus and Direct TV makes you have the best package to get it, so it looks like I won't be seeing many games on there this year.

Wow the Pens have came out flat. They are getting beat to every lose puck and it's showing.

TORONTO (AP) -- Maple Leafs forward Jason Blake has a rare form of leukemia that he said leaves him in no immediate danger and is highly treatable.

The 34-year-old left wing has started treatment and doesn't expect to miss any playing time.

"When you find out that you have something it's definitely shattering to your whole family and so on," Blake said after practice. "Overall, I feel good. I'm still here and my goal this whole season hasn't changed."

I'm awaiting the first locally telecast home game of the Blackhawks. Until then I might check the standings in the paper occasionally.

I don't watch the NHL, but obviously I'm missing....Gary Roberts?  He seems to be all the rage.

the caps got ripped off from being in the second round with a bad goal allowed when it should have been penalty on flyers for pushing player into goalie.  then in OT a cheesy penalty was called after 1.5 periods of no whistles for penalty's since they were put away.

it should have been washington vs pittsburgh in 2nd round.  would have made any hockey fan the happiest around.  non hockey fans would have become fans.

but bad officiating in game 7 and caps lose.... typical of new nhl.

Derrian Hatcher is a head-hunting thug. I was so happy to see the habs get those two goals on the power play. Too bad they couldn't take the game...
