Status: offline 		KABKABIYA, Sudan - Former President Carter got in a shouting match Wednesday with Sudanese security services who blocked him from a town in Darfur where he was trying to meet with refugees from the ongoing conflict.

The 83-year-old Carter walked into this highly volatile pro-Sudanese government town to meet refugees too frightened to attend a scheduled meeting at a nearby compound. He was able to make it to a school where he met with one tribal representative and was preparing to go further into the town when Sudanese security officers stopped him.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for Mr. Carter.  He wasn't the greatest president, but he has always proved himself as a man who lives up to his own ideals.

An interviewed witness said that it was moreover a case of misunderstanding and miscommunication as the security agent was just following orders to stick with the planned tour and schedule for Carter and his posse. Something about tribal leaders...
The witness wasn't sure whether or not the agent even knew who Carter was or of the significance of his presence in Darfur.
I thought it was interesting that while visiting, Carter was slipped several notes detailing horrific crimes from the victims/refugees.

There's plenty that needs to be done in the U.S.

I don't think Carter was cut out to be President.
He was just too indecisive.

Status: offline 		Billy was cool, he was an early version of Larry the Cable Guy. I wonder how much cash Billy made off of his name with the beer. In middle school I built a Billy Carter pickup truck in model building class. It even came with fake cases of beer in the back of the truck.
