Status: offline 		MONTGOMERY, Ala. - A judge once considered for a prominent federal appointment has resigned amid investigations of possible judicial and sexual improprieties, including allegations that he spanked male inmates in a private courthouse room.

The resignation of Circuit Judge Herman Thomas ends what was once viewed as one of Alabama's most promising legal careers, although his legal problems continue.

"We do have a criminal investigation going on," Mobile County District Attorney John Tyson said after Thomas' resignation Monday.

Not really. 

What gets Republican's in trouble is they get themselves appointed to Congressional Committees for Missing and Exploited Children chairmanships, and then make sexual advances to minors.

People are not ripped to shreds for their party, they are ripped to shreds for their hypocrisy.

Status: offline 		The thing about this thats worse than the spankings, surely an abuse of power in itself, is the fact he is alleged to have favoured friends and relatives in court. That`s what deserves a jail term if it`s proven.

And yes, the guys a hypocrite if guilty as he is meant to uphold the law and didn`t from the sound of things. Democrat or Republican makes no difference.

I can't count the times that Republicans (or leftists, or Christians, etc) have been condenmed with generalizations and blanket statements, without regard to individual beliefs or actions. And that's a fact.
