Sorry people - it was just a heads up for the Brits here; proving to be an interesting programme so far - about immigration, and analysing it according to ethnic groups etc

Bitching to follow when its finished!

the four highest earning groups of immigrants
Americans (US)
Canadians
Australians
South Africans

70% of TB cases diagnosed are in first generation immigrants - 700 cases of HIV per year are diagnosed in immigrants, even though the issue of a visa is allegedly contingent on passing a screening test. This adds £63 million costs to the health service a year - but the health service couldnt run without..... the immigrants who work within it!

What annoyed me so far - the immigrant family who were on the list for social housing for seven weeks - whilst the local native family have been on the list for seven years and are now in 80th place when they started at around 40th

1/4 of the population of Boston are immigrants

theyre vital, because the locals dont want to do the agricultural labour that the Poles in particular will do; hard work, not enough money and benefits pay more

The Poles also work much harder than the locals - I found the same with the Czech guy working for me

I asked my friend Marge if the Poles were hardworking- she said yes. I asked if they have good taste-[as in home decor] she said, no not really.  Interesting thing about Marge is she escaped Germany on one of the last trains out when Hitler went wild. Years ago she told me a bunch of stuff. I cant really post her candid opinion; as it would offend some.

Sorry - son, scouts etc

So, did anyone else in the Brit contingent see it? I caught the repeat on the 1hr later Ch4 so got to see it all eventually. I may be wrong, but I think Ch4 has a web service if anyone else wants to see it.

What made it interesting I think, is that it broke down "immigrants" into their proper groups and then looked at how those groups have got on (or not) in the UK. It also looked at the huge impact on resources that immigration has had, and particularly in recent years how the extra workload on public services has not been adequately serviced in terms of resources.

The overall winners and losers as I saw it were

"Winners" - Indians, eastern and central Europeans, Nigerians, white arrivals from the US and white settled commonwealth countries; these groups have come here, worked hard, contributed and done well, and their children have repeated or are due to repeat in the case of newer arrivals, this pattern.

"Losers" - Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Somalis, Portugese; more likely to be relying on social benefits, social housing, living below the official poverty level, less likely to be in work or seeking work Also in the losers category though, must be accounted a sizeable part of the white native population who fit the same profile. What seems to be common across all these groups (including the natives) is I'm afraid, a lack of interest in education - which is exactly the opposite case of those groups in the "winners" category. This leads to reduced possibilities in life and straight into the social benefits trap.

What was also interesting, was that the programme did not mention once our Afro-Caribbean population.

I saw most of it.
I suppose if you are a farmer in Boston Lincs then a ready supply of cheap labour is not to be sniffed at, especially for the seasonal work that is offered. When that is done the taxpayer will be expected to support those workers, till next season that is.
"Extra workload on public services" as you so delicately put it needs to be financed. See the two teachers in Boston again wanting more money. Jon Snow, the presenter of the programme, was naturally sympathetic.

Winners ? The Indian who worked for the ....wait for it...the Inland Revenue again financed by tax payers and his daughter who ran or worked in a pharmacy, financed how ?

I saw NO mention at all of the "tribal" differences leading to violence between the immigrant ethnic groups.

All in all I thought the programme was quite good in the sense that in an unspoken way it supported my negative view of the likely consequences of the mass immigration that has occured over the last few years.

At the moment only the white under class is bearing the strain and as  middle class do gooders despise them we shall have to wait for some more street disturbances before much is done. Of course by then it will be all too late.

Seeks people always seek to blame others for lack of work ect ect. Whats needed is to raise the overall standard in schools and give kids a better chance. Then to see how to tackle individual groups if immigrants from certain countries. The fact the Indiam guy works for the revenue is irrelevant, its like knocking Maggie as her wages was paid by taxes. The guy, and his daughter, got their job on merit which is fair enough.
As lady E states, odd that no one from the caribbean was mentioned though.

As things have got steadily worse commentators have been saying we must raise education standards and then all will be well. This has been going on since the late 40's along with massive real increases in financial investment
So why does the problem still exist.
Only Arskin ?

Afro Carribeans were referred to indirectly as the prop of the NHS.
Other problems. associated with that community were not mentioned.

Until our political "masters" recognise that the Brit. taxpayer, tho' supporting them  our "masters", cant take on all of the socio/political problems that exist in the underdeveloped world things can only get worse. IMO.

You know Seeks? I dont think its anything to do with raising education standards. We have more people than ever achieving higher grades than ever in college, and more people than ever studying at university and more people than ever with degrees. Yes, education gives one the ability to realise aspirations - and whilst there likely is room for more improvement to standards achieved, I think we must have it more or less as good as possible by now given the results.

The problems as I see them are
1) when one has a typical intake to primary schools where 50% of the children dont know a word of English, this makes the education of such youngsters very much harder.
2) some groups simply do not value education - these are the ones doing poorly. Its not some genetic predisposition at work here, it seems to be more of a cultural thing.

What this snapshot indicates to me, is that we have a sizeable proportion of the population (and this includes natives) who simply dont subscribe to the idea of taking part in the game we're running. They bring their children up the same way and the process repeats.

Its really a case of culture as I see it, from start to finish. But when "anything goes" under multi-culturalism, and the alternative of being British is tied in to a state which is a century out of date in every way and therefore rejected, I wonder what we do to get everyone playing the game?

First stop for me is to reconstitute the nation - start again from the bottom up, produce a settlement which suits the aims and aspirations of the nation - anyone who doesnt want to take part then, should perhaps seek a place where they play a more preferable game.

A major revamp of the Welfare system is the first stop. Unfortunately this is at the moment politically impossible.

I am 100% in favour of people being helped when in difficulty.
I am 100% opposed to people being able to make Welfare a life style choice.

The required solution will be very very painful, possibly not even economically possible without a major recession verging on collapse.
Banking system crises might be the first step. Have we not just witnessed one ? Its possible to paper over the cracks when one institution gets into trouble but not when the whole edifice starts to fall down.

The, I think, Nigerian manager of Health Services shown last night wont help much ; neither will his Brit counterpart nor any equivalent admin. type, of whatever nationality.
