FelinePersuasion -> friday's play party was a bit disapointing. (9/28/2007 11:48:28 PM)

First of all the music was way to loud andimmediatly began grating on my nerves, disturbing my  efforts at relaxation, thought about ear plugs but then i could not hear daddy. and secondly nothing was working out quite right, things were hurting in  the non fun way then he tried to finger me and it just hurt no matter what and one time there was a careless move with made me state ouch you're hurting me kind of loudly. I blame it on the ripping good orgasm I had about 5, once I have had a ripping good one I'm not usualy to interested in play, which sucks cause I wanted to give him a blow job and so much more this evenning.  We'll try again tomorow.

I have a loud enough stereo, it is amazing that people always want to crank it up.

They have no idea of the psychological effect, even if the listeners like the music, the attitude gets tense. Some people like that, even love it all the time.

Music is one of the reasons I no longer go to bars. I got a stereo and waaaaaaay more tunes than that jukebox. If I go to a bar I go to meet people, and to do that you TALK, not dance or sit there unable to hear one another.

I am sorry someone abused you with music. At my house it is full volume, but when ONE song is over it is silent. You can talk. You do not have to raise your voice. A bit later, "I'm going to play some Nugent". It plays and then it is over.

Boil it down, it is not pretty. People who think you need constant music dtrowning out life are abviously defective. The only thing it proves to me is that they have nothing to think about. You are obviously not in that category or you wouldn't have posted.

Maybe you came before, but you were willing to give it a go, whoever provided the environment screwed up. It may have been said before "never let a music junkie run the mixing board".

Music junkies just do not understand what loud, obtrusive music can do to a person. I know, I used to be one.

Hey t did you ever notice that people like to crank it up until they hear distortion?  I had a chick over that I met off of here I might add...and she was into rock n kick ass music.

So she asks me if she can crank it and I showed her th esound meter and said you can take it up to here of you like but I would not go past 90 - 100 db for more than one song if you value your ears.

Well she was one of the people that wanted to hear distortion.  First she tested it and took it up to 125 peaks and found out i was not kidding it does not noticeably distort and finally she backed it down to a level off at 115 peaking at 120 and the big smile came over her face.  So i tapped her on the shoulder cuz like you say at that volume you cant hear even 6" from their ear...

Told her hey you are going to cream your ears that loud.

cant tell a domme a damn thing.  So she cranked it right back up and of course those are integrating meters so the real peak is closer to 125 - 130 on an fft.

Well i grabbed a set of foam ear plugs and stuffed them in my ears and i keep a set of shooting muffs handy for when people want to go nuts like that and put them on too...  she gave me a funny look.

well 1/2 hour went by and she was really into nickelback live vid and i tapped her on the shoulder again, nope insisted on that volume again!

Check this.  When it was all said and done and she finally was finished listening to everything she would holler at me, everything she said was yelling.   I told her that too and she was surprised.  then before she left to go to her house later she was holding her ears and told me it felt like they had fluid in them.

I told hewr that her loud concert days are over if she wants to hear when she is 70 years old.

Anyway now if someone wants to hear tunes I push the -20 button and adjust the computer so it only goes up to 100 db.

Even tho she did it to herself I still feel responsible.

Anyway I am just gassing off here and as far as the op is concerned when people play music to loud either take foam ear plug with you or go to the bathroom and get some toilet paper and stuff your ears.

Its a misconception that you cannot hear your daddy because ear protection "tends" to cut all the sound equally.  foam will cut more of the highs, female singer and up, and toilet paper of napkins tend to let more of the highs go through, but as a whole cut all sound equally for all intents and purposes.

Then what you can do is just put them in or enough in so that it becomes comfortable and you can stand the oud sound.

do protect your hearing though and your daddy should protect his too.

Certainly loud music will definitely and permanently damage the ears. It is even worse, though. From two people I got the distinct impression that it had caused severe brain damage. I know that one of them, a mathematics student, was a hard rock fan - in fact his loud music forced me to move, even though there were seven intervening student rooms between his and mine. The other one was a colleague of mine and a lot older than that mathematics student. I do not know that he listened to loud music, nor do I know whether he used to be a student, though I suspect so, but he had the same zonked out expression on his face as that mathematics student, as if his brain had been shocked into mush. I estimate that at the time that we were colleagues that he had an IQ of between 80 and 90, so forty points down from what a student usually has at minimum. He was fired because he lacked the intellectual ability to do the job properly.

I actually do not believe that loudness damages ears. It may for some people, but not others. I have been in jail for a loud stereo and my hearing is quite good. What's more I had a pair of headphones, Sony MDR-CD5 s which would go a hell of alot louder than anything considered safe or sane. I did the math, Db per mW blah blah blah, came out to 136Db I think and that was within their rated maximum power of 500mW at 45 ohms which I am sure I exceeded. Of course I had the resistors jumped. I had a pair of Sansui SS10 s which went even louder but the Sonys sounded a bit better. (they were flat down to 2Hz, turntable rumble was an experience)

What I noticed is that it can be taken at that level, but it needs to be done gradually. If the song ended abruptly your ears would be pounding but if you brought it down slow you are just fine. Also note that I didn't spend all day under them.

Guy I work with, very hard to figure. Got this test generator which along with the pattern, puts out a sine wave to the audio. To turn it off is to turn the sound carrier off completely which I could not do, and I was already in a very unfriendly service menu and was unable to turn it down. The 400Hz drove him crazy, even at low levels. Switching it to 7,000 Hz he was fine, but then it drove me crazy. I wound up pulling the plug for the speakers. Recently I took a ride in his car and the stereo is set to a very tinny sound, I basically can't stand it, but that is how he wanted it.

Feline, this is probably the worst hijack you've ever seen. Sorry. If you'd like, bring up some other things about the night you didn't like. I think we've beaten the music issue to death. Just suffice it to say, I got a fridge, beer, even burn at home. If I go out I want to meet others and loud music just doesn't do it for me. When I sit in the livingroom with people I have all known for 20 years and we are totally sick of talking about someone's latest court case or whatever, that is time for tunes.

About ear damage, I think we actually exercise our ears, and if things come on gradually and are not too sustained our ears are strengthened, like any other part of the body.

Y'know I didn't listen to any music for about two years. Don't ask me why, I just didn't.

T, thasts not exactly the way it works man.

its volume over time.

that is why osha set factories at 80 db

So for instance you can listen to 80db for 8 hours and your hearing will be fine.  Now stretch that to 12 hours per day and you will slowly lose your hearing.

Like the story of that domme.  That is what happens you feel like you have fluid on your ears and its about that time people get permanent ringing ears, or tinitis.

I know a woman that did lots of shooting as an example and her ears actually hurt her they are so bad.

Its been a while but 120 db will start to cause permanent ear damage after about 3 or so minutes of exposure, 160 db is just a few seconds.

One thing you do not want is ringing ears for the rest of your life as there is no cure.

Still not with you here. Actually 160db is ridiculous.

I think it depends on the person. I think some have stronger ears than others. I have been in a room and saw a speaker melt glass. You would think I am deaf as a post, but I am not. Just like some people have better eyes than another.

Seriously, I could listen to like 130db, but I wouldn't do it for eight hours. Others absolutely can't stand it. But then I can't stand direct sunlight. I can't see in direct sunlight.

So as others need earmuffs, I need sunglasses.

Of course now we have totally hijacked this thread. Sorry.
