Yes tribute does make someone genuine.

It means they are genuinely interested in scheduling a session with a Pro Domme.  As a professional I don't use sites like this one (too many competitors working for free LOL) but even on 'pro' sites I am bombarded by fucktards that just want to talk for an hour about their fantasies.  For free.  With no intention of scheduling a session.

Time=money.  You want my professional time? You pay my professional salary.

For non pros or at least those who claim to be - tribute should be less of an issue...more a voluntary thing when someone likes you enough to give it than an expectation up front.

Dude,

When i was looking for a Domme awhile back...(what?  i like girls, they are pretty) anyway...some of those "dommes" contacted me asking for tribute...i let them have it and then blocked them. :-)

I'm an agreeance with Mistress Sassy.
Changed my profile a while back to state that I wasn't a Pro-Domme but if you wanted me to provide wank material for you, then i expected payment for my 'work', since that day the number of  'do-me-subs'  has tapered off considerably. I'm willing to wait and be single ( and subless ) until i find the right rl submissive for me. No asked for tributes required, however my birthday is on .....[:D]

I personally don't put much stock or interest in the concept of tributes.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I'm a dominant guy and it would seem strange to demand tribute from a female slave? I don't know, but either way, it just sorta baffles me. Fetish I don't have, I guess.

I totally agree. Pro Dommes are giving a service and should be recompensed. No argument there.
Once chatting to a Domme, talking on the phone/cam, and getting a feel for the chemistry, I have no qualms as to send a gift here and there. birthday gifts, or a new toy.   (awaits the hoard of goldiggers) lol.

I have no problems with pro dommes ads except when there is a deliberate confusion built in. I recommend the term "tribute" to be replaced with someting more concrete. It could be for example: the fee $200/hour.

awmslave that is a valid point, but unfortunately there are quite a few professional activities that Dommes do which could net us a prostitution charge.  "Tribute for time" sounds far more quasi-legal than "Services for fees."  At least in the US.
