Greetings to one an all.

Today is my one year anniversary date from quiting smoking.  It is also my anniversary date from my hysterectomy.
I did not care if I had a cigarrette or not for two days, so I kicked the habit.
It has been difficult since most people I know smoke.   You can do it.  It is an addition just like drugs or anything else.
I could not breathe  after the surgery.   I quit. If I can quit, you can too.   Email me if you ever want to talk about it.

Regards, MissSCD

Congrats, I've never personally been through that.  Have been close to people who tried to quit.  I know the hell you must have went through and you've survived.

When I was born, my Mom had smoked through her pregnancy (hey, it was the 1960's). I was then raised in a cloud of smoke until I started burning my own cigarettes when I was about ten, and so I've been hooked on nicotine all my life until I quit an January 15th of this year.

I caught a bad flu, which made cigarettes taste like shit. Kind of the same method you used to quit, in a way. It works, it's effective. I had been trying to quit for over twenty years before, but I wasn't even tempted to smoke again for about two months after that flu. But then, after that initial two months, I started to obsess over the idea of smoking again. Those very extreme obsessive / compulsive feelings  lasted for about five months, but I muddied through it mostly by telling myself that I control my destiny until I smoke that first hit but that after that, the cigarettes would control me.

Congratulations on your year, I'm looking forward to mine. I already feel a lot better, and I can climb sixteen stories of stairs (about 200 feet) in under six minutes now. It's great - and I owe it all to a bad flu.

Well Santity:

Some times things happen for a reason.  If it took the flu to kick the habit, congrats to you.
I issue you a challenge.  Don't you pick up a cigarette without emailing me here to tell me about it.

Regards, MissSCD
