Hello Not sure where else to pose this technical question.. but... I notice when I log onto collarme, that when I click on message boards I am showing up as a guest. I need to log in there again. Is this normal? Seems to me that it didnt used to happen this way. Thanks and my apologies for the technical question

Yes... I checked twice... ie: I check to make sure its checked... then close down.. log in again.. and the same thing.

your security settings might be too high and you're not allowing cookies. I'd try adding collarchat to your trusted sites and seeing what happens then.

no... but now that you mention it.... I have been logging onto collarme directly from the gmail webpage. I will try logging on from IE after dinner and see if that makes a difference. Will let you know... thanks for your help :)

Wait, how are you logging on from gmail ? Is it an online page with some of your favorites there ? Like a "customize my homepage" thing ? I was about to ask why you don't just put it in your favorites and get here from there, but I realized if you do not have 100% physical control of the computer, you might not want some things in your regular favorite places. If that is the case, you can setup another user account on the computer usually and have every kinky site you want in your favorites, they are seperate for each user. Now, I think I can help you even if this is the case, when I logon it is transparent, but I notice that the end of the URL is bhcp=1. Now if you are on a website on a customized startpage, the cookie might not follow through the links because it may have been temporarily deleted. If this is the case, it is restored when you log off. This may be a security measure. So far, that is the only explaination that I can come up with. Now if you can simply Google for collarchat and it logs in automatically, import THAT particular URL to the favorites wherever they are. When I was using Linux, I don't think the bhcp=1 was on the back of the URL, but I am not sure, but be aware, the cookie is not encrypted. And I know that for my system. I manually imported the cookie from 98SE. Of course XP might encrypt the cookies but I am not sure. But I know an unencrypted cookie will work. I never installed Linux, just ran it off the disk. So no cookies or nothing. No internet cache, hmmm, this is starting to sound good. Anyway, Linux would save login info, but it was in a RAMdrive I think, it is gone when you reboot. When I made the transition to XP a few weeks ago (yup) it seemed to get along with this site and Usenet, but I am on another forum as well, and now every time I want to post there I have to reenter the info. But then it works only until reboot. Hope this helps, even if not a direct solution maybe some ideas. T

I open my gmail.. read my stuff.. then go to the browser bar at the top of the page and type in collarme.com. I have a short cut to gmail on my desk top. Well.. I checked, and you are right.. here is the url the comes up after I log onto collarme from IE: http://www.collarme.com/Default.asp?bhcp=1 I have no understanding of how cookies work.... I know that I have www.collarme.com listed as an acceptable site for use of cookies. Other than that, I am at a loss. It is still happening, even when I enable cookies for the site. As for encryption, etc... no clue:( I guess I will just have to say the serenity prayer on this one;)

Clear you cache and cookies and try again. If it still does not work and really annoys you, switch to or try firefox or another browser. Do not clear your cache and cookies unless you get the blue screen of death on the web. Can I make it any clearer ? DO NOT DO IT. Anyway, realize that you are not AT collarme.com right now, you are at collarchat.com. Anyway, about the clearing of the cache, the reason you don't do it is because it is impossible. Windows simply makes it invisible to you, it is still there. Even if you think you are cunning and decrease the size of your internet cache, it appears to delete the files, but somehow if you increase the size back up, they reappear. I am telling you that all you do by clearing the cache is to make the files unavailable to you, they are still there, they are still evidence, and that is the way Windows is designed. Anyway, collarchat is different than collarme, so that may be the crux of the problem. My mind is mush, it is late. I'll go find a political thread to cause trouble in or something and then go to bed. I'll be baaaaack. T

That only happens if you try to delete the history manually as the index.dat file still remains intact and can rebuild your history from that file. If you use the tools built into IE to do the job it clears the index.dat file as well.
