GregariousGreta -> Reading Profiles (9/24/2007 11:46:29 PM)

So does anyone here actually read the profiles of those they message? I mean seriously read them and actually consider if the person they're messaging will even message back?

Is it too hard to ask? [:(]

CandyLover -> RE: Reading Profiles (9/25/2007 12:14:29 AM)

The only people who seem to read my entire profile before messaging me are the ones who just want to chat about nerd stuff.  A lot of people here play it like a numbers game.  Reading profiles and writing out a full response takes too much time for them, and it's much easier to just cut and paste a letter with generic profile comments.

LivingInSin -> RE: Reading Profiles (9/25/2007 12:17:25 AM)

I do. It's really entertaining to read some of the profiles on here too. I get myself laughing so hard at times!

scifi1133 -> RE: Reading Profiles (9/25/2007 12:17:53 AM)

I fully read each and every profile before I message someone. You never know whats been snuck in that you may miss and that may be extremely important....you never know and the end it may read something like

currently locked up till 2009 but looking for internet dom lol.

seriously though you should try to get toknow the person a,little before you write to them...or at least as much as they share on their profile.

dudd -> RE: Reading Profiles (9/25/2007 12:18:22 AM)

yeah,men are pigs....

iammachine -> RE: Reading Profiles (9/25/2007 12:48:16 AM)

Yes, clearly, it is too hard to ask.

Anyway, yeah, I do. I expect that others do the same... I usually fall horribly short of that expectation being met, but that's okay, it saves me time. If somoene doesn't at least show up on my who's viewing me, I tend to just move on to the next message.

Satyr6406 -> RE: Reading Profiles (9/25/2007 12:55:34 AM)

adoracat -> RE: Reading Profiles (9/25/2007 6:27:41 AM)

i have a really short boring profile.  the very first sentence says that i am owned.  i get email messages that praise my profile...then ask what it is that i am looking for in a Dominant.  [sm=ofcourse.gif]  [sm=banghead.gif]

so yeah....some people dont read the profiles at all.

Bwahahahahahaha!

greyarcher315 -> RE: Reading Profiles (9/25/2007 6:37:28 AM)

i do read profiles, but then i am looking for long term, not a one nighter or cyber. There has to be more in common than just the lifestyle for a real relationship to work.

Saraheli -> RE: Reading Profiles (9/25/2007 6:59:29 AM)

Would you like some cheese with that whine?

MissHarlet -> RE: Reading Profiles (9/25/2007 7:53:35 AM)

I read profiles .. I want at least some information about who I am emailing or chatting with.  If they are not a match at all it saves lots of times as I can just send a polite .. " Im sorry we dont seem to be a match  in my eyes, and good luck in your search " email and then Im all done !!

KenDckey -> RE: Reading Profiles (9/25/2007 8:38:19 AM)

I read profiles.   Sometimes I respond with my asl and that I am interested and would like to chat.  sometimes I respond with a pointed response.  Sometimes I just laugh at them cause some are just silly.

I also respond to almst everyone that looks at my profile.  Figure if they were interested enough to see what I was into they deserve a response from me of some kind.  I've even become friends with some.  But the juice isn't there so we just chat now.

That was my experience as well, mass mailing marketing technique.

Part of going online to look for someone is accepting the problems and hassles. Everyone deals with the crap in online based on gender and roles it might have different ways but still part of the dues. You can either accept and deal or try a different avenue. Wishing, complaining or thinking views or experiences are different is just an exercise in frustration and negativity that does not attract a single human being regardless of role and gender.

Most people’s when they start this type of topic or write it in their profile or journal are just wanting to vent some frustration but the appearance unfortunately makes a person come off as being negative and thinking they are better then the rest of us. I understand not the intention but perception is perception.

RRafe -> RE: Reading Profiles (9/25/2007 9:16:26 AM)

I read them even when they don't have pictures.

But I tend to be strangely cerebral-not really male at all.[:D]

SirCache -> RE: Reading Profiles (9/25/2007 10:20:53 AM)

I read profiles all the time--sometimes from message boards because I'm curious about the background someone has when they bring up a particular subject.  While I'm casually looking for a sub, this isn't the only venue I am using, but I like to know if someone is a good match before initiating contact.

Even then, when I write someone I always ask about specifics in their profile--it's in everyones best interests for me (and potential partners) to know more about one another.  Also, reading my profile means that someone has expressed an interest in getting to know me.  I take that very much into consideration.

I do! Do I count?

Of course this is also why I haven't messaged anyone about a relationship yet - I don't think we fit what they are looking for.

LadyLynx -> RE: Reading Profiles (9/25/2007 11:06:07 AM)

I read them. I love reading profiles, especially of those that post on here.  If it is apparent that a person who has written to me hasn't read my profile, I have them go back and read it, then report back to me, about they liked and didn't like.  If it is a general one word/one liner email, I assume they haven't read the profile.

domiguy -> RE: Reading Profiles (9/25/2007 11:08:29 AM)

I never read a single profile...I send out approximately 1,000 pieces of mail per week...Banking on the industry standard of a 1-2%  return...That means ten to twenty new pieces of meat per week to respond back to.  Now at this point you have to consider things like attraction, proximity and the desperation level of the respondents to see who garnishes your attentions...Why read profiles?  Most of them suck ass anyways.

I read profiles. I used to laugh when I had my nikaa account at how many "doms" e-mailed trying to pursue me. I used to ask, " Did you even read my profile" only to get "yes, I did why?" in return. I would shake my head and and copy and past the part about doms should not e-mail me b/c I was owned.

I have e-mailed people because something in their profile caught my attention or something as simple as their nicks caught my attention and I then read their profiles. I don't EXPECT anyone to answer me back but I am literally a virtual stranger what would give me the right to EXPECT anything?

Blessed Be,
Nika
