I come back to neighbors standing outside. I said hi, thought they were socializting. I was beat from the drive- so went in the house and went to bed. Today I learn, a gun was tossed out- they looked in my yard and all adjacent yards. It may have been found in the nieghbors yard.

I said, how do I know the owner wont come back and try to retieve it?

Anyhow guess I gotta learn how to duck.

This is a bit confusing...

"WHO" looked in your yard(s)? The police who found it in pursuit of a fleeing felon, or some neighbo stumbling upon it while mowing, who then caused a neighborhood panic?

I had some beautiful plastic cap guns that looked like the real Mc Coy growing up (only a tiny plastic red plug stuck in the bore betrayed their authenticity to the untrained eye). My friend and I were playing GI Joe on a snow plough in his driveway when I noticed my .38 was missing. Fast forward to spring and his father stumbled across it and called the police.

I don't understand yards, why can't you all have gardens like us normal people.

Have you ever noticed that sometimes a yard is bigger than a yard? You crazy people and your yards.

lol..  no mention of it in the paper. but the neighbor did find a gun in the yard next door.  wondering if it had been used. im only now getting details.   gunfire in this nieghborhood is rare. we do have stabbings. usually 2 men fighting over a girl. nothing random...yet.

If it was,  someone tell the gun ferry to come to my house next.

If I can get a say...One of those little airlight titanum Smiths would be nice.

If they tossed it then the damn thing is probably hot, and a piece of crap.  My friend found a rusted out Sigma, and let me tell you it was a piece in the firstplace, and rust didn't make it any better.

So now you know what sort of gun somebody throws out eh?  Must be wonderful to be so all knowing.  I have seen dumb ass hoods with $5,000 Parker shotguns cut down into $50 whipits, I have seen morons carrying Navy Lugers and prewar Browning HPs because to a crook, all guns are interchangeable and all are worth $100.

As for rust and guns, rust doesn't really destroy a firearm's functionality.  I remember building up a Colt 1911 out of the worst parts from a batch out of China that had rust pits so deep you could see through the frame and slide.  The barrel was so rusted the only "rifling" was the rust that pitted the less hardened lands rather than the harder grooves, in other words it was a smoothbore.  It would group about a foot and a half at 7 yards but all the rounds keyholed.  Wasn't accurate but it was utterly reliable and at 7 yards a keyholing .45 is rather lethal.
