I'm going to be a grandma! I don't think there is any way I'm ever going to be able to get to sleep tonight!

I hope it goes well and safely for your offspring.    I have a great deal of respect and awe for the process.
Congratulations on your new miracle, and hope he/she is perfect.   M

Well we do know it's going to be a boy, but they are keeping the name secret until the last minute. We just found out today that they are going to be doing a C-section tomorrow. My daughter in law has gestational diabetes and they are concerned over the size of the baby. They did an ultrasound today and they said according to their measurements he could be close to 11 lbs....hence the C-section.

The kids are kind of disappointed that they have to do it that way. They wanted a natural birth. The important thing though is a healthy and safe outcome.

Tell the kids I'm a big proponent of the C-section myself.  Natural birth is not natural and looks a lot less safe than being with prepared professionals at a scheduled birthing.   I had it, and after seeing my sibblings go through hell trying for "natural", than oftentimes still needing the surgical birthing, I cannot grasp the fun/natural feeling people get from being ripped in the loins and coming close to seeing the other side.
>>>But that is just me and I hate pain.

LOL, I guess in Erin's case it would be good advice, yah freak!   M

Oh congratulations, erin!  I am delighted for you.
There is nothing like the love you feel as a grandma.  My little angel is already 18 months old.  Don't blink!  It goes by so fast...
Goodness, we are going to need to start a "grandma club" here soon!

adoracat -> RE: In less than 12 hours.... (9/21/2007 6:39:01 AM)

yay grandbabies!!!  satan has been saying for years that she is NEVER having kids.  she's afraid of her dad being grampa!!

about 2 weeks ago, she tells me her boyfriend said "i'd love to have kids with you" and she got really scared because she wasnt scared.  heh.  i figure within 18 months now i'll be getting the "you can have a grandma bag now, mama!" phone call.

kitten, who isnt allowed big purses till she's gonna be a gramma.

FIRST: CONGRATS! ( Of course, given the timing, you're likely not around to read this, but we're sending out Happy Thoughts nonetheless. )

B) I dunno, #1Wife had both babies using Bradley -- No drugs, No inducements, Moving about as desired, Not being tapped for an IV "just in case", Not being strapped to a bed, etc.. -- And none were needed ( We're not nuts, she's LESS concerned with "The pain of childbirth" than being crippled for life by a badly stuck epidural --- Ok, that's a little paranoid, but she had her back screwed up by a doctor as a teenager, and has issues... )

First labor: 9 hours.
Second labor: 5 hours.

Everyone happy and healthy, no getting cut open like a trout, either.

Rather then spending time "In Recovery", we spend time together just enjoying the newborn.

YAY YOU!  [:D]

I know how you feel about that fitting that picture.  for so long my grandchild agreed with calling me mummsie, but she wanted to be cute yesterday, so in the background I kept hearing her calling out grandma, let me say hi to grandma.  [:(] LOL  I love her to death, really.  Cain't  till I my littl bumkin again, I've got her grandmother for her alright.

Good luck, keep us posted.

Rosa

Congratulations! That has to be a wonderful feeling.

velvetears -> RE: In less than 12 hours.... (9/21/2007 8:28:53 AM)

Congratulations... babies are wonderful and i am sure you will enjoy every minute of spoiling him as a grandma - i have heard that grandparents enjoy their grandkids more than their own kids because the pressure is off them and they don't have the full brunt of responsibility.  Happy years ahead for you [:)]

Daddysgirl19 -> RE: In less than 12 hours.... (9/21/2007 8:43:16 AM)
