Well are they older than 18 or younger, if their younger I'd report them , if they were older and trying to be younger I'd be like who cares, just another liar.

Alert the mods and run like hell.

goalie62 -> RE: I Would Like to Present a Hypothetical Situation (9/20/2007 3:11:28 PM)

So the moral of this story is....

Should I ever encounter something like this, don't have a moral dilemma or wait on it...Turn them in immediately.

xoxi -> RE: I Would Like to Present a Hypothetical Situation (9/20/2007 3:16:29 PM)

Yeah.  Put it like this...if someone is just trying to get someone in trouble, the young looking person can scan their DL and show they're of legal age.  I'm honestly not opposed to having that a requirement, provided they can photoshop out their name and address.

If you know they're underage, just report it.  Better than having this site or any innocent party get in trouble.

Absolutely.  This is an ADULT site; the presence of non-adults will only cause trouble.

goalie62 -> RE: I Would Like to Present a Hypothetical Situation (9/20/2007 3:36:31 PM)

Thanks for the input friends, should I ever encounter that situation, I will turn it in right away.

As for older people trying to be younger....what the hell do you think I'm doing? LOL

I don't wanna grow up, I'm a toys r us kid, LOL

Oh yeah, I wanted to mention this also, but I forgot.  If you want to see someting interesting/frightening, wander over to google and enter your handle.

Not to hijack the thread but....HOLY CRAP!!  I googled me and there I was: on a CM page, in a CM profile.

How does one get themselves taken off the Google part?

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: I Would Like to Present a Hypothetical Situation (9/20/2007 3:53:31 PM)

I do the same thing I do with someone who is over 18.

teamnoir -> RE: I Would Like to Present a Hypothetical Situation (9/20/2007 4:46:16 PM)

Clearly the majority has spoken. And to say anything else would be foolish at this point.

If I were to think that I might do nothing, or decide on the basis of what I thought of the minor, I don't think I'd be forward enough post about that here.

Pyrrsefanie -> RE: I Would Like to Present a Hypothetical Situation (9/20/2007 5:10:22 PM)

I think you should definitely speak to an admin about it in that situation... not necessarily because someone talking to them might unwittingly get into trouble, but because the underage party could get in over their heads and end up getting hurt or worse.

Ha if we based it on that, then maybe 10% of the people here could actually be allowed.

Celeste43 -> RE: I Would Like to Present a Hypothetical Situation (9/20/2007 5:54:38 PM)

Notify the site administrator. I've done that on a vanilla site where someone claiming to be underage said she was planning to run off with this older man. He was about 28 and she was half his age.

The webmaster investigated and then wrote me back telling me she was actually not a she, and was a troll trying to get us all upset. I presume aol identified her for the webmaster and they of course had a credit card on file with a real name, in this case actually male.

laurell3 -> RE: I Would Like to Present a Hypothetical Situation (9/20/2007 6:22:09 PM)

They can just make a new profile.  I would report it, if you're concerned they won't take the appropriate action, at least you've done your part, right?

Which is why I am not dense enough to post my face on a kink profile.

I actually might do nothing. Although I agree that for CollarMe it is essential to ban underage people, laws are different in my country. Because of that I'm quite used to minors posting on bdsm forums and personally, I don't have much of a problem with that. Except thatin this case it might put CollarMe in a dangerous position. Thus, I'm not sure if I would immediately recognise the danger, and depending on that I might or might not report it.

SexyBlackMan2 -> RE: I Would Like to Present a Hypothetical Situation (9/22/2007 6:17:09 PM)

report it

julietsierra -> RE: I Would Like to Present a Hypothetical Situation (9/23/2007 12:43:31 AM)

lol... I've read all the responses and the one I liked the best was the concern that the person - a MINOR - would be upset if they knew it was me who reported them.

I sat here thinking "oh hell yea he/she'd know it was me! Cause if I knew them well enough to know they weren't over 18 and were on a site like this one, they'd know cause they'd see me sitting in their living room talking to their parents. And that's in ADDITION to reporting it to the administrators here. I'm not much concerned whether a minor considers me to be a bad person for reporting their activities or not. Hell, I'd be telling their parents if I saw them smoking, drinking or hanging all over some guy/girl in an inappropriate manner in public too. This is just one more."

Course, I live in a smaller town and that's the way the adults are here. It's a pain in the butt for the kids, but ultimately, it stops problems before they become ingrained and that's what adults are supposed to do.

One of the teens around here recently stole a friends' bike. The parent of that friend of course, wanted to call the police. First though, she called me. I knew there were extenuating circumstances and got in touch with the kid's parent who was at work. With his permission, the friend's parent and I went to find the kid. From the beginning of this theft to the resolution of it took about 2 hours. The kid's response was to be shocked that so many people knew of his activities. We pointed out to him that he lives in a small town now and that no matter what he does, there will always be at least three people who will have seen him do whatever it is he does and that those three people will know others who will always be able, one way or the other, to reach his father. He was more than shocked by this.

We knew it sunk in when one of his teammates on the football team was involved in some stealing and the coach found out about it. The kid involved this time, tried to lie. The first kid (our original thief) spoke up and said "hey, give it up man! you live in a small town. Any time you do something, there will be at least three people who will notice and tell your mother. Don't even try to pretend. They already know."

As a teen, I hated this. As an adult, it's exactly the right thing to do. Just because this is an online site doesn't change my views, and I could care less if some hormonally challenged minor is upset that I ruined his/her game.

You can't.
And it isn't only google.  It will be exactly the same on most of the search engines.

If you do that they will just sign off and come back with another i.d. But I guess nothing is perfect.

Not dense enough? Long before my pic was on this profile... it was on nilla.. friendship.. profiles...key words.. phrases.. etc.. connect them. So though ones face isn't on collarme...but on others.. chances are.. they'll sooner or later connect..Good luck on not being densed too much longer there.
