That's what it looks like allright.

Or at least that's what it looked like back when this story first broke.
Wonder what it looks like now with all the facts in?

He was let off all charges (I'm pretty sure this is the same case my apologies if I mixed them up)

According to this article he was not "let off", he was aquitted- BIG difference.

Point taken I suppose. I wan't thinking of the semantics associated.

Not a problem, semantics can be sticky in discussions like this.  To me "let off" equates to no charges being brought and they were.  He was aquitted by a jury.  If no charges were brought, I would likely be on the side of those outraged.

Locally there has been a case in the last few weeks of a mother and Assistant Principal at an elementary school who left her 2 year old daughter in her car while mom went to work.  Unfortunately it was almost 100 degrees out that day and the child died a terrible daeth while strapped in her car seat.  Mom said she forgot about her child.  The county Prosector decided that was a valid excuse and did not even offer the case to the Grand Jury.  The community is split heavily as to whether justice was done.  No charges were filed.  It is kind of sad that if it was a dog instead of a child- the condemnation would have been squarley set and mom would have gone straight to jail.  The system is not perfect and sometimes it pisses us off.

True. Also I am not the best speller in the world so if I don't feel like spellchecking I'll often use shorter words I know how to spell to make a point. "let off" was easier to type than (let me get my spell check out) acquittal [:D]
