LOL....funny how people refer to their own Karma only when life is good....But when something bad happens in their life its the other person or the "wrong doer" that will eventually receive the Bad Karma...

Is it possible that Karma doesn't really exist and is just that sometimes people do "good" and sometimes they don't?  Sometimes there are willing participants and sometimes there are innocent bystanders?

I guess it could just be that sometimes taking responsibility for your actions is one of the hardest things a human can possibly do.

It probably all depends on whether or not your life is going well or not.

Nah, I think it boils down to people don't like to believe they have deservedly earned Bad Karma coming....

Well, not all 'people' refer to good karma.  I am perfectly happy to admit the bad karma that fucks up life when you piss in someone elses coffee.

Karma - cause and effect - call it what you wish.  All you need to remember is no one is responsible for your feelings except you... and vice versa - that is always a good thing to remember when confronted by karma.

I always thought karma meant taking responsibility for one's actions.

Yeah, I don't believe in that shit either.
Too many rich mean bastards living long lives in comfort to be able to justify it.
And how come it never pays off when you're good?

My view of the subject is really simple: Shit happens.

Everyone has good and bad karma based on cause and effect (in simple terms) but the reason why some seem to be rotten bastards yet they appear to have good fortune is that karma is carried over from past lifetimes.  So all you "bastards" out there - better watch out for the next time you recycle around

Personally, I tend to blame karma when a friend of mine is being a smart ass bastard. "This is my karma for all the times I've been an evil lil shit to you, isn't it? Fucking karma."

Anyway, personal responsibility is where it's at. Karma is an interesting concept, but really doesn't have much bearing on how people actually behave in my opinion.

Karma is just another human construct that has been invented to fend off a deep seated fear that life has no meaning other than what it is and we inhabit a chaotic universe devoid of morality, which is just another human construct.

Karma has as much to do with the mind which directs the actions of a being, as with the actions themselves.

A selfish mind is also one which directs selfish actions, which are often at the expense of others. A selfless mind is also one which directs selfless actions, which are often for the benefit of others. Naturally, the vast majority of beings act selfishly, since as animals and plants they have little concept of selflessness. Meanwhile most human beings have a concept of selflessness since this is taught by their religions at the most basic levels, but prefer to often ignore such an idea because the basic level of understanding which is taught, in the form of directives, prohibitions and commandments, is insufficient in itself, and found to be inadequate by reference to the world. Perhaps more helpful would be the idea that a negative mind attracts negativity, whilst a positive mind attracts positivity.

Its really only with an understanding of what we are and what the cosmos is and how it works and why, that any useful discussion of karma can be undertaken. It is not about being "good" or "bad" or even "good" or "bad" consequences.

I am not an expert but : Dharma is what you would cast as all the negative energy that you have put in to this world that comes back to you. Karma is the good that you put into this world that comes back to you. I beilve that there is a force behind action. What you do will come back in a later time and place , good or bad. It's not an excuse to neglect responisbly, it's a reason of understanding. Most eastern religions have a lot of insight. Google them. Muahxoxox Glassdoll.

actually, Karma is what determines whether you come back in your next life as a slug or a king.

It has nothing to do with what goes on in this life. You controll your destiney while your alive; you're judged by the negitive or positive karma you build up along the way. its an objective morality test where your answers dont affect the later questions, not some continuous-feedback loop you can react to. If you have bad karma from a previous life than life is hard, good karma means you have better 'luck'.

people just say they 'believe in karma' because its a convieniant way to muddle through life without really knowing anything about ethics but they mean well in their own misguided way.

Yeah, karma's just another superstition.  Still, there's some truth in that pissing off a lot of people can have bad effects on you, or making a lot of people happy can be good for you, but it's not certain, and it's certainly not a universal force.
