SirEbonyPhoenix -> Toy recalls:What's going on?! (9/6/2007 5:34:15 AM)

Lately, toy manufacturer Mattel has taken a couple of big hits because of massive toy recalls on certain products such as Batman action figures, Fisher-Price toys, Barbie playsets and so on because these products contained lead. As a kid (as we all were at one time), I used to play with Mattel toys, especially the Big Jim action figures and never worried about lead content. But with what is happening in the news today, Matttel's situation is pretty messed up and I know if I were a parent, I'd think twice about letting my kid play with toys from any company the produces them in China, Hong Kong, Korea or Thailand.

 IMO,this is a direct result of making industry proponents ,the industry regulators. This is pure neo-con doctrine.

For example,putting the guy who lobbies "for" the drug industry,in charge of regulating the drug industry.

There are almost no government regulators working today,that did not once work in the industry they`re regulating.

It`s really a matter of the Fox (News),watching the hen house.

One big problem with that is,..dogs need to die in droves,before someone figures out that the dog food they`ve been fed is poison,or kids need to get sick from lead poisoning,before someone figures out that that the toys they`re playing w/ are covered w/ lead paint,or worse.

In other words,there is little to no "regulation" at all.Our food supply,medicines,and other products we come in contact with,can no longer be thought of as safe.

yeah- the oversite has been gutted.

and not enuff have died yet.

hey- as a kid we did the hacky sack thing too.  that was fun to get good at it. basically using your feet you kept a bean bag up in the air.

with or w/o china the greed is rampant. and anyone who shops the walmart stores share in some of the guilt.  tho life isnt ment to be risk free.

i cringe at the thought of skate boards made in china!  those were fun too. we never worried about falling. at 43 i would dare got on one.  hell i should have a seatbelt fot the computer chair.!!  hehe

watch this clip,and the guy in white.

Imagine him, in charge of product safety,for all of America.

That`s kind`a what we have now.In all the positions were there`s supposed to be a protector,there is an industry shill,like the guy in white ,telling us that market forces will protect you from exploding tires or poison dog food.

Notice at the end,the WS Journal guy`s answer,on if he would buy Chinese toothpaste

"Made in China" has now become a *warning* label.
The thing is that our government doesn't inspect all this stuff comming in from China, they don't have the manpower!
They make all these one way "trade deals" then don't oversee or monitor them!
Again, it's those bastard Lobbyists on "K" street who are shoving this crap down the throats of our Congress!
Lobbyists don't care about this country just about making more money from their foreign clients.
I'm just not going to buy anything from Mattel or Hasbro or the others until they start making their products in the US like they used to.
If it says "Made in China" I just don't buy it.

I think Lobbyists should be outlawed.
The only people Congressmen and Senators should be listening to is The American People!
When is the last time anyone in this site had dinner with or played golf with their Congressman or Senator like those lobbyists do on a regular basis?

It's merely terrorism at its finest.

They have been making toys for us for years.  They know what goes into the toy and what does not.
It isn't like they can cry stupidity.

And your question was?

LATEXBABY64 -> RE: Toy recalls:What's going on?! (9/6/2007 5:21:30 PM)

did you not know it is a sneak attack by the chicons to poison people

HaveRopeWillBind -> RE: Toy recalls:What's going on?! (9/6/2007 7:31:14 PM)

When we were kids most of the Mattel product line was produced in Taiwan. The Taiwanese actually liked Americans and had good reason not to upset us. The Chinese don't care if we or our kids die so long as they get our money first.

Just don't by anything marked "Made in China."
