Nope, cockroaches are an evolutionary dead end, they are already suited to survive anything, even nuclear holocaust, so no need to evolve further.

It's interesting that you bring religion into the spectrum. Out of all the debates with Science versus Religion, atleast the two agree that the world will end and we will continue to exist in another form of celestial energy and particals over the vastness of space.

I contend that while cochroaches can survive nukes it will be whatever the lord intelligent evolved cockroaches consider cockroaches that will ultimately save the earth or just be so survivable they don't care : )

I hear the cockroaches are so co-evolved with man, that they'll die back when the sources of warmth generated by human cities dies off.

Of course, there are plenty of other warm places...

Ummm...I don't think we need to perfect space travel right now in order to solve a problem that we're going to face in 4 billion years.

I think it's a little more rational to try to reclaim the Earth and make it habitable for, oh, say a few million years. Then we can start looking for other galaxies to colonize. Because if we don't do something soon, the human race is not going to survive this millennium. You can forget about 4 billion years.

Let's figure out a way to track doomsday asteroids while also figuring out a way to live on Earth. How the FUCK are we going to start colonizing other planets when we can't even manage our own?

Easy... The problem is that our society is TOO centralized.

By dispersing population, we increase their ability to create viable structures to best promote the individual and general welfare.

I'm not encouraged by things HERE, but I expect some planet elsewhere *could* devise, construct, and hold a Competent Empire.

Rubbish. There are many species of cockroach, and while they have adapted to living with/off humanity they are not tied to us by evolution.

Where did you get that timeframe? There are may ways our species or the planet can be destroyed, and there is no definitive timeline.

And the longer we get from the last doomsday asteroid, the closer we get to the next one.
Also don't forget that colonisation may help with resource or population problems on this planet.

The most likely "civilization-ending problem" we're going to face is the fact that we've made the planet damn near uninhabitable. Talking about colonizing other planets and pie-in-the-sky nonsense when we're shitting in our own drinking water makes absolutely no sense to me.
