Someone mentioned the "white noise" devices...those along with a t.v. and/or radio can cover up a lot but be careful...in all seriousness, if your roommate gets nervous about the sounds he thinks he is hearing, he may bust in on you to "save" your partner or worse yet, he may call the cops.  He might also carry tales and depending on the degree of how "out" you want to be about your BDSM and/or D/s proclivities, that just might create all kinds of problems for you.

Status: offline 		i think the best bet..... do it when he's not around.... i've been through the whole living with roommates thing. it's horrible. even if they are kink friendly... nothing like the sounds of cheering to ruin a good spanking punishment!

or maybe play some music, if you can, loudly enough to drown out the sound?

but fur paddle or something to that extent.... is there really a point to spanking then?? i mean.... kinda kills some of the fun if you cant leave those gorgeous bruises!

Status: offline 		A Dominant friend of mine swears by tapestries and other fabric art, saying that some of that on every wall absorbs a great deal of sound.  I haven't tried it, personally.  If your game to try, but don't want the expense until convinced, you might try hanging up some heavy blankets or quilts at windows, back of door, etc, and give it a try.

I say talk it over with your roomate and come to an agreement. Not that hard really. If he doesn't want you playing there go to her place or go to a hotel.

I would suggest prewarning the neighbors that you will have a party and noisy guests that love to clap and applause.  Or, practicing a play in which 'the mark of zorro' requires a whip snap or such...practice practice..well, you get the idea.  Have a time though when this is to take place and be a good neighbor and stop at the promised time. 
 
Might want to treat them to dinner during your fun time, they will be out--you show that you want to see that everybody is having a good time.  You know your neighbors best.
 
Just some thoughts.

When he does spank, because i am vocal, don't tell him that, and because it is over a bed, i take my two pillows and bend over face down into the pillows. Yep i'll scream into them. Doesn't cost a lot, plus if you do spank during the day, most people are at work.
