I have so many books that I love. Some of them only because they spoke to me about things I was facing at the time rather then good writing, compelling characters or interesting story lines. Then I have some favorite authors that I only like for their writing not their stories. I would read their advertising copy if they wrote it. Steven Brust is a good example. I can't point to anyone book I loved but he is an fantastic writer. His opposite in my mind is Robert Jordan. He isn't a great writer but I find his story lines and characters compelling. I have books that I loved as a child that I don't read but could never give up. I remember the first book I ever read that made me cry ("Where the Red Fern Grows") I remember the first book that expanded my sexual boundries ("The Pearl") and I remember the first book that made me question my basic beliefs ("The Return of the Primitive")

I could fill pages with my favorites.

anybody else read this great book and ages later you remember the basis of the book, but you can't for the life of you remember the title or author? It's driving me nuts, ,cause as I remember it was a pretty sexy book, however couldn't tell ya anything about it except that a woman went to a local man to learn to be more sexy for her husband, and it turns out her husband is into little boys, and that is why he wno't fuck her or touch her.

Roger Zelazny's Chronicles of Amber sci-fi/fantasy series (the original 5 are the best, starting with Nine Princes in Amber)

Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series about a hilarious New Jersey female bounty hunter, starting with One for the Money

The classics...  Bronte sisters' Jayne Erye and Wuthering Heights

A favourite from childhood that I still enjoy, A Candle in Her Room by Ruth Arthur

Incursus by Emlyn Splinter- an adventure that oddly combines historical fact with sci-fi/fantasy.  Really cool stuff.

...and a million more.  Some girls buy shoes, I buy books.

I had forgotten about the Stephanie Plum series. Those are very good too.
