Except that crossdressing has nothing really to do with gender or sexual identity.

I'm not sure, but I do think CM was taken on originally by heterosexuals.  And it is a part of how the bdsm culture as well as the overall homo and hetero "mainstream" cultures have developed that mainly homosexual and heterosexual groups tend NOT to mix.  I find this to be unfortunate for all sides, but such is life.

Why is it that the non heteros on this thread are the ones bristling about the site being predominantly hetero?  It just is how it is- no one has said homosexuals aren't wanted, aren't enjoyed, aren't included.  Someone asked for possible explanations on why gender and sexual orientations are not broader- I gave what I consider a pretty honest answer.

Don't get upset because things are the way they are or kill the messenger girl- if enough people really want there to be a change, there will be.

the line between crossdresser, transgender, transexual, and genderqueer is alot blurrier than we tend to draw it. at least from reading these boards, there is a sizable proportion of CD folks for whom their crossdressing does have alot to do with their gender and/or sexual identity.

do you think it's unreasonable to bristle at a space being designed in such a way that it excludes you or renders you invisible? i mean, in the big picture the fact that i check a little box and my username comes up pink is not a huge deal, but that's just one more thing on top of the multitude of little, seemlingly inconsequential things that remind me that my gender varience is not accomodated or acknowledged by the world at large (and when it is acknowledged, it's usually in a violent manner).

Sure ya can just go the simple rout and say I am a sexual being lol.

Great, more labels.  I sure as heck will never be able to describe my sexuality with one word.

I think it is a bit unreasonable when you consider that collarme is essentially a hook up place for personals ads.  It is supposed to be a brief snapshop to accommodate the highest number of people with the most convenient boxes to suit the majority of its population.

It's not unreasonable to want to be included- it's unreasonable to EXPECT to be included in a system driven for the mass immediate simple consumption when you happen to be a small complex minority.

ChainsandFreedom -> RE: The Gender Fuck: X-dress, T-girls, BoiToys? (9/4/2007 3:08:56 PM)

I think collar-me should have an ugly/not ugly check box to save me some time. And I'm real pissed I can't look up people based on their use of the elctro-wand while doing whippets and skating across the kitchen tile with all the natural lubrication of a nudist foodie.

I mean, come-on. ostensibly its about those who collar and those wearing a collar-isnt that broad enough already? Or maybe I should be more pissed about something more conventional-what about a way to make sure I only have to look at the profiles of red-heads? Is there any way the site is excluding you other than the fact you actually have to read profiles to find common interests and write your own down-just like everyone else?

Some gender-reinventers think of themselves as a differant gender that that they were born as, some think of themselves as that origional gender but with a twist. So even if there were neat little catagorizations, it wouldnt majically solve the fact everyone has their own unique identity.

Next time I go to my favorite store on Christopher Street for rope or other supplies I'll be sure to ask the owner for a special 'straights-only' section since simple inclusion and welcoming isnt enough.

Strange indeed, I have seen some t/v's or t/s's choose the female sex option since they identify with it more. I would love more accurate choices however.

Us too - We've been seeking to add; a bi-racial, multi-cultural, cross dressing, pre-op, trans-female, gender-queer, bi-sexual, switch (preferably a natural blond); for years. The search would be easier if CM assigned those individuals a unique color.

Gosh and I thought flagging got complicated.
