greetings,

With respect to those who posted before me, this was a term that was described to me, some years ago by one a former Dom, who appeared knowledgable, and from whom, I learnt a lot as I commenced my journey.

He described Pansexual, as moving past the person's gender.  So whether they were a transgendered, male or female., it was about the person's spirituality, and their spirit.

It is very common in local bdsm groups to say they are "pan sexual" which means they embrace all forms of sexuality.  I believe that that is the meaning, or at least that was the way it was desribed to me.  I see it as a "buzz word" rather than anything else.

mystique hopes this was helpful.

Linky linky

I've most commonly heard the word in reference to groups that are open to all sexual orientations and gender identities. However, the word may also be used to describe an individual's sexual preference (or lack thereof). I, personally, describe myself as pansexual, since I really don't take gender identity into consideration at all in  regards to partnering.

There are really two definitions for "pansexual".

Yes, one is the idea of being open to pretty much any form of sexuality regardless of gender, orientation, age, behaviors, etc.

A more practical definition is that "pansexual" really means "hetrosexual people in a group who have a few bi-curious members and are wondering where all the bi and lesbigay people are". Which is to say that few "pansexual" groups really are pansexual or genuinely welcoming or attractive to a variety of people. Usually the idea of being pansexual is usually more of an idea than an actual practice.

LOL teamnoir, such a cynical view! Though I imagine it is quite often accurate. The parties W/we ran in Perth were pansexual in that W/we had straight males, straight females, male-female couples, male-male couples, other single gay males, female-female couples, other single lesbian females, a whole load of cross-dressers, transgendered people, intersex people and at least one hermaphrodite. Reckon that about covers it ... and they truly were all welcome ... unless they turned out to be idiots ;-)

I always thought that "pansexual" and "metrosexual" were the same thing.
ACDC?
