So... can we have a huge battle about rather it's "original post/poster" or "opening post/poster"?

That'd really make my day.

Hey. I'm the truble maker around here!

http://www.collarchat.com/m_998810/mpage_1/key_op+mean%253F/tm.htm#998810

http://www.collarchat.com/m_1114508/mpage_1/key_what+op%253F/tm.htm#1115387

I've only listed two examples but there are scores more. The question has been asked by others before so it's not original. "Most" of the threads on these forums start with questions which have been asked in the past or LA would be out of a job providing links. There is very little originality to be found.

That's my case for opening post/er as opposed to original post/er.

I'll be happy to respond to rebuttals. ::grins::

okay - further hijack for the win - what the hell does "UM" stand for.  I mean  by context I've figured outI it is kids or vanilla family but have not figured out what the initials stand for except possibly "unmentionables"?

because moderators haven't figured out that when we type UM we mean kids??? why do we still use that...it feels like a grade school code that the teacher long ago figured out...and we still think we're fooling them...

As far as I know it is not for the moderators, but so that the words UM covers are not used in conjunction with sexual words on this site.

who besides the moderators would care? and wouldn't using UM in context with sexual words still, in fact be using those words in context with sexual words?

The government cares. If the word for which UM stands is used on a sex site, then it is assumed that the site promotes UM sexual abuse. Which gets the site shut down and the people who run it, in jail.

So UM it is. Although personally I prefer minor.

I don't like UM or unmentionable.  It makes me think of undewear.

The line is very clear between discussing relationship issues that impact children, and sexual activities involving minors.  UM just strikes me as 'chatspeak' more than anything; like using 'da' instead of 'the' or 'wif' instead of 'with.'  There's no injunction against discussing how our relationship and lives are impacted by our children, so long as we don't associate them with WIITWD.

That may be true, however, when monitoring agencies do global searches, they search on keywords and sites in which they appear, they do not have the resources to read the context and as we have seen in the past here on CM, many people make very loose interpretations of  that topic as it relates to UM.

Who put the bomp
In the bomp bah bomp bah bomp?
Who put the ram
In the rama lama ding dong?
Who put the bop
In the bop shoo bop shoo bop?
Who put the dip
In the dip da dip da dip?
Who was that man?
I'd like to shake his hand
He made my baby
Fall in love with me (yeah!!)

When my baby heard
"Bomp bah bah bomp "
"Bah bomp bah bomp bah bomp bomp"
Every word went right into her heart
And when she heard them singin'
"Rama lama lama lama"
"Rama ding dong"
She said we'd never have to part
So

Who put the bomp
In the bomp bah bomp bah bomp?
Who put the ram
In the rama lama ding dong?
Who put the bop
In the bop shoo bop shoo bop?
Who put the dip
In the dip da dip da dip?
Who was that man?
I'd like to shake his hand
He made my baby
Fall in love with me (yeah!!)

Each time that we're alone
Boogity boogity boogity
Boogity boogity boogity shoo
Sets my baby's heart all aglow
And everytime we dance to
Dip da dip da dip
Dip da dip da dip
She always says she loves me so
So

Who put the bomp
In the bomp bah bomp bah bomp?
Who put the ram
In the rama lama ding dong?
Who put the bop
In the bop shoo bop shoo bop?
Who put the dip
In the dip da dip da dip?
Who was that man?
I'd like to shake his hand
He made my baby
Fall in love with me (yeah!!)

if a website has existed for over 10 years with outright descriptions of fantasies of sexual acts with minors and got away with it because they have the disclaimer of "we do not condone actual sexual acts with minors" at some point on the page...i don't think that the government is gonna throw a hissy fit because we say i get off on spanking my adult signifigant other and the kids heard it the other night...but i could be wrong...has happend once or twice in my life

So?

It's a far cry from a monitoring search, and a federal or state criminal indictment.

For the same reason, they don't shut down livejournal or other blogging sites, because the sites expressly state that the opinions posted are the sole responsibility of the poster, and that the site is not responsible.  That, and of course the sanctity of the first amendment.

If you're not sure about how this works, you can do a search for 'objectionable' topics over on asstr.org and see what pops up.  I assure you, we're more than tame by any net standards.  The perpetuation of the myth of government shut downs seems far more damaging to me than the use of the word 'children' in a post.

Stephan

I'll agree it's stupid to prevent discussion of issues that come up regarding children as well as anything that includes children in sexual acts, but the TOS says it's all the same. I'll quote:

quote:

Topics which are unacceptable regardless of circumstance include, but are not limited to - minors, bestiality, incest, necrophilia, snuff and criminal activities.

Whether I, or anyone else, agrees with this is irrelevant. It'd be great to have open discussions of the considerations having kids brings into a relationship- but it won't happen. The rule's there, it's part of the conditions of posting, and if we want to continue posting here, we have to accept the black and white nature of that particular rule.

Also, as Mod 11 pointed out in another thread that touched on this, using UM or "unmentionable" doesn't change anything- it's still referring to a minor, and thus still not ok.

And yet, despite the identical and unconditional ban on any discussion of the topic 'criminal activities', the forum is full of posts on everything from gun crime to treason, to arrests for consensual and non-consensual activities, to outright abuse.
