Anyone ever thought that a Collarme internet radio thing would be awesome?
i know a lot of people probably spend a lot of times on these forums and i think CollaRADIO would be cool, have forum surfers browse the forums and listen to jams and make some requests etc.

Ah - another outlet for pirated music. Just what working musicians want to hear.

Just for the sake of debate,
it seems like non-attacthment to material goods and the transmission of mind would lead a practicioner of zen, who is ultimately supposed to abstain from music anyway in accordance with doctrine, to be progressive with regaurds to the distribution of music free of the hedonic pricing models of the a capitalized production method.

Making music is a form of right livleyhood.

Stealing the efforts of others is not a form of right livelyhood.

Take an artist to lunch.

PS. But if I  were to advocate the unfettered "distribution of music" I would ultimately be contributing to general level of planetary suffering and attachment. Right?

Well, my former Master is an internet DJ currently for another site.  The biggest problem they have?

Paying for the "station".

How will Collarme pay for internet radio?

Are you sure music has been proscribed as a right livlihood, or do you just assume that? I do not recall.

To attribute physical properties which can be stolen to music requires attatchment even beyond the nominal existance and truth of things. False attatchment creates negitive pali. To participate in that which is false attatchment is the perogitive of those whom do not abide by the precepts. However to profit from that which spreads negitive pali to others continues the cyclic existance and should not be abided.

To abide by earthly law which obstructs the Middle Path or Noble Way is not the true path and does not exonerate one from their responsibility toward the non-returning of all beings or their 'self'. Profiting because of law which holds no ultimate truth can do nothing but continue one's cyclic existance and even obstruct any enlightenment which music may provide through skillful means.

p.s.
I have dined with many artists-from family holiday meals to the wine and cheese or beer at a public display of various friends and relative's work. Critically acclaimed and recognized to popular to downright awful artists. None of them, not a single one, preforms and creates their art because they expect  to become rich. If artists were in it for money, there would be no more artists as it is spectaularly a poor way to support oneself. Even the very few "famous" ones I've met support themselves through day-jobs...

Yeah, but I wouldn't be suprised if it can be a stretch to pay the bills with the advertisements and whatnot. it does cost quite a bit to run a website.........To the OP: check Live365.com I don't remember what the minimum cost is for a station, but it isn't to bad.  Also IRCBondage has radio stations in several of the chatrooms, go there and ask how to join up as a DJ

It isn't about 'free publicity'.  If CM was a radio station, you would have to be legal and pay the rights and taxes etc.  Pirate stations aren;t called pirate just because they sail on ships and fly a jolly rodger.  Even stores and pubs etc pay entertainment licences.  Ever read the copyright print on a DVD or CD?
Darcy is a DJ and Mashup artist - but he knows the laws and wouldn't dream of misrepresenting them like you just have.  If somewhere like CM were to consider running a radio show, then you need more than just music and need to know the laws.  BDSM gets a bad enough rap as it is, let alone put the entire organisation at risk just because it's 'free publicity'.

Besides, there are BDSM and Gay/Lesbien radio stations already up and running.  Just google.

I've given internet stations permission to play my music, in fact they required it. I presume the same would be done here before anyone streamed their 'collection'.
