 I hope they'll do the right thing.

The right thing being stopping Hamas from using children like her as human shields?  All of the human shields have faces and back stories.

kittinSol -> RE: Gaza girl's plight political (8/22/2007 10:25:02 AM)

What a lovely sentiment. [:(]

luckydog1 -> RE: Gaza girl's plight political (8/22/2007 10:29:49 AM)

kitten, all of the shields do have faces and names.  This is a chosen tactic, to attack while exposing civilians to the retaliation.  It gets on the news and people like you support them.

What you think the right thing to do is?

kittinSol -> RE: Gaza girl's plight political (8/22/2007 10:36:14 AM)

This is a BBC news report. I would hardly call the BBC fodder for Hamas.

The story isn't about human shields: it's highly debatable as to whether this child was in fact a human shield. If anything, her home got bombed by raids because... that's where she lived.

She is receiving good care at an Israeli hospital but the Ministry of Defence wants to send her to get care at a Palestinian hospital which isn't equipped to do so. I only regret the reporter doesn't explain the situation in more details.

Her father quite rightly said this at the beginning of the report: "The army raided my home and killed my wife and other children; all that I ask is that they continue providing for my daughter's care." She will probably die if she gets sent away.

Did you hear what Dr Shirley Meyer say? "Without going into politics...". Don't go there.

luckydog1 -> RE: Gaza girl's plight political (8/22/2007 10:56:02 AM)

No Kitten, her home was not bombed because she was there.  that is nonsense.  There is more involved than simply what was put in this story.  Hamas has regularly been using populated civilian areas to start battles for over a decade now, knowing and expecting that retaliation will kill and main civilians.   Its a chosen tactic.  Its copied from Hezbollah.  But it really is a very old tactic of revolutionaries, the Boston Massacre in the American Revolution qualifies.  Isreal is not going to let them just continue to fire rockets at thier children.  It is horrible that this little girl is caught in the middle.  Many, many horrible things happen all the time, in Congo, in Sudan, actuall genocides.  Yet tacit  support for the tactic will garuntee its use in the future.  And more little kids hurt, but you won't see the vast majority on tv.

My bet is that the West Bank Hospital, which along with all of the West Bank services are currently being upgraded as part of proping up Fatah there, will get some ventilator machines and everything along with the girl.

"fodder" is kind of a nonsense word in this context, so I agree the BBC is not fodder for Hamas.  The term "usefull idiot", seems more fitting.

*Sigh: no need in expanding this particular conversation. We're on different wavelengths.

Involving children is something both sides do,in that part of the middle east.

The children signing and coloring the shells,are Israeli.

Seeing as Hamas is the Lawfully Elected GOVERNMENT of Palestine, of course their DEFENSE would have be be on their own soil...

Farg, first, shooting rockets into your neighbors territory is offense, not defense.  Second, they could launch thier offensive attacks from other places than civilian homes.  But having the civilians (like the girl in this article) hurt is part of the strategy.

Urban Warfare, by definition, happens in town.

luckydog1 -> RE: Gaza girl's plight political (8/23/2007 12:50:47 AM)

Yes, and that is the tactic they choose to use.

If Israel hadn't created what are effectively prison camps to house the people from whom they stole land and property, there wouldn't be a problem in the first place. It is also accepted by the international community (maybe not in the US) that Israel indiscriminately firing shells and making targeted assassinations that kill more women and children than men, the bulldozing of Palestinian homes, are crimes under just about any international treaty you care to mention.

To quote Ben Gurion and which seems to have been Israeli policy ever since....

“We must use terror, assassination, intimidation, land confiscation, and the cutting of all social services to rid the Galilee of its Arab population.”

It was the zionists that started this conflict, to blame the victims that fight back is double speak.

Heres a little freudian slip while angry:

"I want to tell you something very clear, don't worry about American pressure on Israel, we, the Jewish people control America, and the Americans know it."
Ariel Sharon to Shimon Peres, October 3rd, 2001, as reported on Kol Yisrael radio.

Yup straight from AIPAC...err i mean David Duke Israel
Israel Broadcasting Authority guide to the IBA radio networks known in Hebrew as Kol Israel - the Voice of Israel.

“Israel may have the right to put others on trial, but certainly no one has the right to put the Jewish people and the State of Israel on trial.”  ---Ariel Sharon

“I vow that if I was just an Israeli civilian and I met a Palestinian I would burn him and I would make him suffer before killing him.”  ---Ariel Sharon

We extend our hand towards peace. Our people are committed to peace. We know that peace entails painful compromise for both sides. Ariel Sharon

Everyone there should move, should run, should grab more hills, expand the territory. Everything that's grabbed, will be in our hands. Everything we don't grab will be in their hands. Ariel Sharon

Iran, Libya and Syria are irresponsible states, which must be disarmed of weapons of mass destruction, and a successful American move in Iraq as a model will make that easier to achieve. Ariel Sharon (who's yo daddy)

A lie should be tried in a place where it will attract the attention of the world.  Ariel Sharon

Speaking of lies, wanna talk about the 6 million jews that hitler supposedly wasted which were more than the total of the census polls in the occupied territories and then magically "immediately after the ww2" germany had to pay restitution to 4.5 million jews?  I guess they grew out of the bomb craters.

How is ariel these days?    Read talmud lately?

Ariel has!

I associate your comments with denial  or you have an agenda regardless of history

You're defiling the thread, RealOne, with your disgusting theories and anti-semitic rants. Offensively inadequate are the words that spring to mind.
