This has been bouncing around in My head for a bit, and I thought it might be interesting to bring it up for a post here.

I am taking My husband to his first slave auction next weekend. The night is set up with a gambling theme. All Tops will be given an equal amount of play money at the beginning of the evening, and then spend a couple of hours at card tables, hoping to increase their 'funds' for the auction later in the night. After the bottoms are auctioned to the highest bidder, there will be time for the purchaser and the purchasee to negotiate limits, etc. After that, play begins.

This is going to be My husband's first event of this kind, and he is going as a Top. I'm not concerned about it being his first function. Not much shocks him after having watched Me play with bottoms after all of this time. What does concern Me is his lack of his own experience and what that influence might mean to any bottom he might 'win'. I am adament that he must make this known to any bottom he might procure for the evening, so that they may adjust any limits that they have for the time he would be their owner.

My question is this..... What other suggestions would you make to him? If you are a Top (simplest term for the foum), what other advice would you give? If you're a bottom, what would you have to say about this idea?

I'll say more on the subject after getting some additional input. My thanks in advance to A/all who respond.

Being a top, I can't see too many complications for him.

Now, if he was a submissive going to a slave auction, that's a little different. One of my (this is littlesarbonn talking here) biggest fears of a slave auction is not being bid for AT ALL. It's probably why I've turned down EVERY opportunity of this nature that has come across.

Read up on card game winning strategies first. The rest will be a moot point.

Go slow, take it easy, insure a pleasant if not out of this world time. Don't overload the situation out of your league, that is worse than the slave begging for alot more.

Don't have many expectations, and I would assume the person would read aloud any specific preferences or limitations BEFORE the bidding begins? That way you can bid for someone you already know has at least a general style and preference that works with you.

All he needs to say is "I'm not that experienced, but I really love to do X, Y, and Z. Are you up for that?" Make it fun and casual like it should be.

Thanks for the responses.

Ron, very good advice about not trying to go out of his league. He's used to watching My level of playing, but I don't think he has delusions of grandure of trying to reach that bar. (Actually, he's quite good at the gambling part. No issue there.)

Realtuff <coughlittlesarbonncough> I don't think there is going to be any issue of any of the 'slaves' not being bid on. At last check, the RSVP list had a Top/bottom ratio of about 2 to 1. I don't know about anybody else, but I go to these type of things to play. As long as My play money holds out, there will definitely be bids made.

Maybe I should get some poker tips from My husband. <chuckle>

Edited to add.....

LA, yes, the ones on the auction block will be having their general descriptions read at the beginning of the bidding, so I'm hoping he can find a good fit. Thanks for the input.

First, I look forward to seeing you both there!

As to your concern, I'd mainly just urge him to stay in his own comfort zone and that he can't do anything wrong so long as he respects his bottom's limits. I'm betting he'll be holding back more than risking going too far, being lacking in experience in general AND with that particular partner. Maybe offer to stay nearby for moral support and to watch for safety sake, that way he feels more comfortable?

Realtuff has a valid point: I was, early in my career, part of a very poorly run slave auction. As such, it ended up being little more than an ego crushing slap in the face. Both to me, and several others. If I were running this event, I'd definitely structure it so that A) everyone got played with at least a little, and B) no one knew who was going for the highest, or lowest bid. (silent auction, or something similar.)

You might consider asking someone you respect, and know to have more experiance, to oversee the session. I did that with my first auction, it was the first time I had played in public with anyone other than my wife, and the auctionee's first ever scene. Later in the evening I heard that others present were praising that move, so I guess it was a good idea.

RP, it will be fun to see you again. Actually, he did ask Me if I would spend part of the evening watching any play he might engage in. If I manage to 'win' the boy that I'm bringing (that has a funny ring to it) that should be easily arranged and might be a good opportunity to observe while I'm getting My feet rubbed.

Bipolarber, thankfully, I'm not organizing this event at all. It is being done by some industrious folks in the local group here. Unless I'm mistaken, the slaves will not be in the room when the actual bidding occurs. That should help with the issues that were mentioned. Believe Me, as long as I'm there, as long as I don't run out of play money, there will be bids.

Joseff, as I mentioned in My comment to RP, he does want Me to spend part of the evening observing him. I have a good deal more experience that he does and he's hoping that I might be able to observe his play time.

LadyPact, have You considered You and He pooling Your money ... and buying one top-of-the-range sub between You? Then You and He can co-Dom and play together which is likely to give Him some confidence rather than being on His own? Master and I did that at one slave auction, purchased a lovely girl and had a lot of fun! she thought she was in clover having 2 Doms working on her. Of course, I can see it might not work if You definitely want a boy and He's not into that ... could You then perhaps go outside Your comfort zone and purchase a girl?

I echo the thoughts about the organisers making sure everyone gets "bought" and played with ... the canny organisers at that particular auction made a "job lot" of a couple of subbies with like interests (foot fetishists in this case) which probably made them more desirable a purchase than if they had been sold separately. They were in fact purchased by a spontaneous cartel of 2 Dommes who thoroughly enjoyed the pampering.

Whatever You choose, I hope You and He have a great time, it can be a lot of fun.

MaamJay, I was wondering about that idea. I'm not really sure if that is permitted or not. I haven't run the idea by either the slave wranglers (organizers) or past the husband. I couldn't say if it's an idea he'd be interested in or not. (I'll have him read this thread when I finish the reply.)

I have no issue sceneing with females, but you are right that he has no interest in sceneing with males. There is a boy that I am bringing along that night that I am hoping to win for Myself. Guess that's one of the things that will have to be seen when We know how much luck We have at the card tables.

You're most welcome, probably best to run it past Your hubby first, then if He likes the idea, run it past the organisers. Alternatively, You could still buy one each ... and then scene close by each other so He's comfortable using the stuff. And You could even make it a feature of the scene that You each ask the other for "advice" ... loudly enough for the subbies to hear ... "do You think I should spank her a little harder?" "Oh yes, and I'll flog My boy a little harder too!" etc. That might work!

Not to be negative, but I would tell him not to take any of it seriously. Don't expect anything because the subs being auctioned probably don't particularly care to play with an inexperienced stranger. All they want to do is make everyone smile and quickly go back to their Doms. Ha, but if I'm wrong let me know and I'll bring some counterfeit play money to the next one to make sure I can buy since we live in the same town.

I'd make a few test runs on E-Bay first. I understand that in slave auctions, you make payment through "PlayPal" ...(ducking....)....

Ed: If you really want to have fun...take the lady you have won by the hand and tell her you are so looking forward to using her...and then go on to explain that "you're safe...I've never killed anyone intentionally...".

Here is a fun thing to do along those lines. If some vain woman is on the block whom you despise ...you know....the ones that have that "you can't have me, you're not good enough..." look to them....knowing their Master will win the bid? .....well...get a bunch of people together and pool your money....then give it to the most slovenly, undeseireable, toothless man you can find....better yet bring him in off the street....and make sure he has enough money he can't lose.....it would be worth the $ to see her being carted off :..

MaamJay, as promised, after posting My last reply, I had My husband read the thread. His response to it was that he would be honored to co-top with Me given the opportunity. He's always been a great fan of watching Me 'work' and has a lot of respect for My style.

Becca, I do hope it is going to be a lot of fun. I haven't been to an auction in a while.

ExSteelAgain, you have a very valid point about some bottoms might not want to play with an inexperienced stranger. It was actaully one of My thoughts behind starting this thread. The thought certainly has passed through My mind. Also one of the reasons I would hope to get some feedback from submissives on that angle. Btw, I had no idea We were in the same town, as your profile only lists the state. Maybe I'll see you at a function sometime.

My standard disclaimer in these cases:

They let me out, despite the warnings of the medicine man :) Having actually bid on - and won - a very good sport of a lady at such an auction, ( we went bowling) I do realize that these things are not conducted in the stocks on the Town Common in front of folks with pitchforks and torches - well - maybe in Iowa....anyway, God forbid any of the new folks read into my post that such things as rigging the bidding are possible - NEVER take anything I write seriously unless the post opens with "Serious Reply". Given the number of "new" people here, I officially fall on my sword and acknowledge this was an improper, though not malicious, sort of hijacking of a thread, which the unintiated might have misread or misunderstood, and with all sincerity doff my hat and apologize to the good LadyPact.

I'll also add a post thought of- just let him go and do his thing. Presumably he's a capable adult who knows the basic ropes of things. Every top has to start somewhere and while it's good for you to be there as a helper- this could be a great opportunity for him to get some no strings casual experience all on his own.

DS4, thank you for the explanation, and the apology. While I appreciate the bit of humor, I wouldn't want anyone to get the wrong idea and perhaps be afraid to attend.

LA, thanks for adding the extra thought. I brought that up to him when We discussed MaamJays's idea of co-topping. One of the things I don't want to do is get mixed up into his opportunity and turn it into My experience more than his. I want him to have fun and enjoy himself, and hopefully someone else will have fun along the way. More of a pinch hitter than anything else.
