Status: offline 		I don't have a problem with people not having pics, I just think half the time their excuse is bullshit. Even if they said- I don't photgraph well so I don't like sharing pics. It would be better. Most of the time I think it's also them trying to make themselves seem more important than they really are.

You want to vent your frustrations, go ahead.  You want to rant and rave go ahead and do that as well.  But don't present it as a question, that when people answer it in a way you don't like, you get defensive.

I think you meant to direct that at me, since I mentioned trust....

I live in a small community and work in a hospital.  In a perfect world, yes, people come in here because they're kinky too, and it's our little secret.  Unfortunately, it doesn't always work that way in the real world.  There are people out there who are backbiters and people who look to make trouble around every corner if they have the oppportunity.  It's very conceivable that someone could see a photo of me in here, and then mention it to his wife, who was pissed that hubby was looking around in here.  And wifey doesn't think it's proper for someone who works in our fine, community-supported hospital to have her photograph displayed brazenly on the internet in that vulgar site!  So, wifey tells her friend, who happens to be on the board of directors, who tells the chief of staff who tells my boss, who calls me in her office and tells me my behavior is not befitting of someone the public depends upon for proper care.  That this sullies the hospitals reputation, blah blah blah.  People can be very petty.....one girl I work with got called into the office because she dropped something in the ER, and when she bent to pick it up, her black thong elastic popped out of the back of her scrub pants for a couple seconds.  The old biddies who saw it complained to the ER doctor about how disgusting that was, who called the lab director..... 

Maybe this is an extreme scenario, but it could happen and it's not one I wish to risk happening at my workplace.  I need my job and the benefits.  Now, if I lived in a large metropolitan area, I probably wouldn't be as apprehensive about a public photo.  And I gladly share one or more with someone I begin email contact with. 

Plus, don't assume that no straight-laced, bible-beating church-goers ever come in here to get a few jollies.  And then run squealing....

Status: offline 		I'm not ranting... I was just wondering. I mean, how could anyone possibly know that? I didn't knowq I had to specifically say "I'm looking for opinions" for people to get it. I thought it would be obvious since there would be no way to know the answer for sure.

Status: offline 		If you think they are telling you a pack of lies about why they dont have a pic, MOVE ON.  Stick to people with pics, and live a happy little life.  And whos to say these people arent CEO's or Presidents of companies, or something?  Its hard to do, but give people the benefit of the doubt...

I normally dont throw a pic up on my profile, but thats because I feel that I dont have to.  I have this big personality that I'd like to share and have someone get to know before they make judgements based on looks.  Hell yea, I'm pretty cute from what I see everyday, and Im sure theres one or two people out there that agree, but I dont want to be chosen cuz of looks.  And I'm thinking maybe a few of these people youve crossed maybe, just maybe, feel that same way...

Status: offline 		i've gotten that line a couple times... a guy who i was even talking to on webcam one time who wouldn't show his face... wore a mask...

anyway... no pic no chat... thats how i work on this site, and all other sites as well...

its pointless if i can't see who i'm talking to. 

i risk... lots of things... my parents or my boss finding me... whatever... its not a big deal to me to post a picture. 

but i have heard lots of men say that's the reason they don't... so that they can't be found

then there was the one time i saw an ad on Craigslist... a man stating openly that he was married and looking for other sex partners with a picture of himself at the bottom...

now THAT would be the time to not post a picture.

Status: offline 		I pulled my profile and pics earlier this month after being outed at my job and subsequently having my contract cancelled. They had my photos, highlighted areas of my forums posts and sent it all to HR, my nurse manager, sent it to the agency I work for( which happens to be owned by my owner), cancelled, services no longer needed. You don't have to have a high profile job, I'm an RN.

A co-worker had emails from alt.com(which I saw accidentally when I went to his desk), and I would assume that person was probably here too. 

I kept that persons secret, I dont think he'd have done the same had the situation been reversed.

Sunday, I had some nut from CM threaten to kill me.  Four whole lines into a yahoo IM session and she was off the rails......You never know until you know....

I feel terrible for you after reading this. It is a perfect example as to why some of us do not add pics. And I am sure that the irony of how they came into possession of your pics and journal entries would be lost on the self righteous bigots that canceled your contract.

Status: offline 		I guess you could say I have a high-profile job. lol Actually, as you know I show my real photos everywhere, and I even get emails from guys in my city who say 'I saw you at the store'. Even in a city of a million, I'm unforgettable!

The question I get a lot is why I won't go on places like Facebook under my real name. Gee, I wonder why? You can see my face, I make no secret of who I am or what I do, but I don't need to have any Tom, Dick or Harry able to look me up in the real world. (I have a very unusual real name too, so it would be easy.)

Wow, Chewsie, that is terrible, and I'm sorry to read this. 

I lost a job once because they watched my IMs unbeknownst to me and didn't want "my kind" working there.  No warning, no nothing, just "We'd like your resignation today, please."

It wasn't a high profile position, either.

I'm sorry this happened to you.
