You do mean Tony Benn otherwise known as Viscount Stansgate. An aristocrat if ever there was one. !
Thankfully he never had a great deal of influence and once Tony Blair redirected the Labour Party they got elected. lol

T Benn was still a bit of looney IMO Civilised man, undoubtedly. Just a bit unrealistic.
Nearly as bad as Lord Longford. You dont even want to go there lol

How unrealistic?..well he thought that if only the state could control everything then all would be well.
That hasn't worked out too well has it ?
Most people recognise that large corporations have a lot of power but the solution is not to give it to the state.

The problem with Tony Benn is that he believes what he says, and says what he believes - leaving us the voters to choose to support or reject his position.

Clearly, this is no way to make a successful career in politics.

The correct way to go about things is to be wishy washy middle of the road, all things to everyone and rely on PR for success.

Anyway ANYONE who said what they really think would never get elected.
How can you tell the electorate that at least 50% of them are a bunch of ill informed oafs ?
