WASHINGTON - The daughter of Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani signaled she was supporting Democrat Barack Obama, then backed off when faced with questions.

On her Facebook profile, 17-year-old Caroline Giuliani listed herself as a member of Obama’s Facebook group, “Barack Obama (One Million Strong for Barack).” She left the group Monday morning after the online magazine Slate sent an inquiry and later in the day, a spokeswoman said she did not intend to comment on the 2008 race.

why on earth does the way a 17-year-old girl would vote if she could matter...I am constantly amazed at the cult of celebrity in the US

If my father was running for president, I'd be a member of every bleeding organization for every other candidate; just so I could see what was being said about my dad.

Erm.

If my dad was the type of guy who'd run for president....he's not.

Um, The Guiliani kids HATE Wudy.

She's not doing it to be helpful and learn intel about the opposition. She *REALLY* doesn't want people to vote for her father.

What kind of person must you be for your CHILDREN to hate you that much?

Clearly, you've never met my step-mother :|

Where does it say that she hates her father? Is that a fact, or is it mere speculation?

First I'll start of by saying.. Wow.. slow news day. I think people forget that we are still in a slight recession.. the country is acting like the gestapo when it comes to all kind of groups in the country, our civil liberties are being raped constantly by the people in power, the corporations get fatter on our blood, sweat and tears... that we have legitimate good people dying in Iraq. (not by their own choice.... I personally understand if you signed up and wanted to go to iraq and kill, after all, it speaks of the personality, not the orders).. we have miners trapped in the mine.. there are people who are starving, raped and killed each and every day (so many are minorities so hey.. if it doesnt hit mainstream.. it really shouldnt matter)... and what.. no Hilton, Spears or Lohan news? What a disgrace.

Now.. I got that out of my system. So what if a 17 year old, who by the way.. realized a tough lesson this day.. that when you have even a small part of fame, that it will come to hunt you down. So she supported Idealogies that Obama believes in. Wow.. is that a crime? Seriously, the man is a great orator and a great motivator.. and he's sparked alot of interest from the younger generation. So what if at 17, she feels that his ideals are closer to her own than that of her own father?

Being from NYC, I know what Giulani did for the city. He made it a safer place. How? Police state baby. Perfect for this country. After all, the gestapo (NSA/CIA/FBI) is already in place..all we need is to expand the powers they already have. (which is unlimited for the record)

Look, she's young. But she's one of over 290 million souls in this country. Her support of obama doesnt change anything. He is probably the second best choice in the Democratic party (Behind Edwards.. and thats sad to say).. But We all know Hillary will probalby win it. And that Guilanni, even with this little black spot will win the Republican candidate.. thus.. my 2001 prediction after 9/11 will come to pass.. Clinton/Guiliani for 08. I will vote for whoever chooses the best VP candidate. Personally.. Clinton would be smart to go for Edwards (I'm sorry but this country is still to biased to the ideology of a Woman/Black combination no matter how RIGHT that is) ... and Guilani would be smart to go with the Consertive minded soul for his VP. (Becuase he's to liberal for the Right wing)..

This is a good year to see how the system is as broken as it is.. (laughs) God.. I love politics.

What kind of father must he be to inspire that much strength in his child?  I might not care for his politics, but if his daughter has enough strength in her convictions to back Obama, then perhaps hes doing a damn good job as a dad.

Damn, that's almost sensible.

Seriously, aren't we taking this a little too far?  It's not like she's on the road with the guy as his campaign advisor.  It'd be like signing up for a mailing list.  Hell, I signed up for a Mormon mailing list once, just to get the dorks off my porch.

Stephan

(for the record, I like Mormans in general, and feel that religions that most religions that 'recruit' do a good deed; the two dorks in question, on the other hand, could barely convert O2 into CO2

You must have missed it in the papers...

She's 17.  She may've just joined because she saw a hot guy in the group, or to strike out at her father who had upset her somehow.  Hell, she likely didn't even think through it.

I lived with these girls a couple years ago.  (She's only three years younger than me.)  They have a whole different list of priorities.

farglebargle -> RE: Giuliani's daughter backed Obama (8/7/2007 7:54:07 AM)

Oh, it's definitely acting out against Rudy. But, given the way he treats his kids vs. his new wives ( Rudy's a thrice married "Catholic" ), it's not surprising.

I have read that article now. It says that she is distanced from her father, not that she hates him.

Anyway, he appears to have been an accomplice in the 911 hoax. Hillary appears to have been an accomplice and mastermind in many dirty events. And quite likely Obama is a distant relative of either or Bush. There aint no such thing as democracy.

Alumbrado -> RE: Giuliani's daughter backed Obama (8/7/2007 9:18:29 AM)

If Fargle says she hates her Dad, who is that little slut to say different?

kossack -> RE: Giuliani's daughter backed Obama (8/7/2007 9:27:47 AM)

I DESPISE Guiliani--he has a fascist mind.  I lived in NYC during his reign.  I remember what the city was like on September 10th, and I know he ignored planners who wanted the disaster center in Brooklyn and put it where it was most vulnerable.

BUT--can we cut a 17 year old a little slack?  She has taken down her facebook page because of all the attention.  Her dad is running, not her, and if she isn't campaigning, if she is jsut trying to be an average teenager (which is pretty darn hard in today's world), I think the least we can do is give her a little privacy.  (Now, if she starts appearing in public rallies and whatnot, my views change, but she isn't.  Give her a break.)

"One million strong."
I think he's going to need a few more than that!
Rudy should be running as a Democrat.
If you look at his positions on different issues he's obviously in the wrong party.
Funny him trying to make Romney's religion an issue.
Rudy's had 3 wives, Romney's been married to the same woman for 35 years!
"Hey, there's Rudy "Big Love" Guliani."
