A Repost from Craig's List and has to be my exact thoughts and feelings, who ever this person is. Thank you for Putting My feelings about this war into words. From an Angry Soldier I'm having the worst damn week of my whole damn life so I'm going to write this while I'm pissed off enough to do it right. I am SICK of all this bullshit people are writing about the Iraq war. I am abso-fucking-lutely sick to death of it. What the fuck do most of you know about it? You watch it on TV and read the commentaries in the newspaper or Newsweek or whatever god damn yuppie news rag you subscribe to and think you're all such fucking experts that you can scream at each other like five year old about whether you're right or not. Let me tell you something: unless you've been there, you don't know a god damn thing about it. It you haven't been shot at in that fucking hell hole, SHUT THE FUCK UP! How do I dare say this to you moronic war supporters who are "Supporting our Troops" and waving the flag and all that happy horse shit? I'll tell you why. I'm a Marine and I served my tour in Iraq. My husband, also a Marine, served several. I left the service six months ago because I got pregnant while he was home on leave and three days ago I get a visit from two men in uniform who hand me a letter and tell me my husband died in that fucking festering sand-pit. He should have been home a month ago but they extended his tour and now he's coming home in a box. You fuckers and that god-damn lying sack of shit they call a president are the reason my husband will never see his baby and my kid will never meet his dad. And you know what the most fucked up thing about this Iraq shit is? They don't want us there. They're not happy we came and they want us out NOW. We fucked up their lives even worse than they already were and they're pissed off. We didn't help them and we're not helping them now. That's what our soldiers are dying for. Oh while I'm good and worked up, the government doesn't even have the decency to help out the soldiers whos lives they ruined. If you really believe the military and the government had no idea the veterans' hospitals were so fucked up, you are a god-damn retard. They don't care about us. We're disposable. We're numbers on a page and they'd rather forget we exist so they don't have to be reminded about the families and lives they ruined while they're sipping their cocktails at another fund raiser dinner. If they were really concerned about supporting the troops, they'd bring them home so their families wouldn't have to cry at a graveside and explain to their children why mommy or daddy isn't coming home. Because you can't explain it. We're not fighting for our country, we're not fighting for the good of Iraq's people, we're fighting for Bush's personal agenda. Patriotism my ass. You know what? My dad served in Vietnam and NOTHING HAS CHANGED. So I'm pissed. I'm beyond pissed. And I'm going to go to my husband funeral and recieve that flag and hang it up on the wall for my baby to see when he's older. But I'm not going to tell him that his father died for the stupidty of the American government. I'm going to tell him that his father was a hero and the best man I ever met and that he loved his country enough to die for it, because that's all true and nothing will be solved by telling my son that his father was sent to die by people who didn't care about him at all. Fuck you, war supporters, George W. Bush, and all the god damn mother fuckers who made the war possible. I hope you burn in hell.

I don't know if this is a blog from an actual veteran, but I will just assume that it is for the sake of argument. The United States military is an all volunteer force. We haven't had an actice draft since the early 70's. No one forced her to join up. I can't think of one war in the entire history of the United States that wasn't built upon lies. Anyone who cares to read up on history can discover this information for themselves. All members of the military have my respect and my support. I want the war in Iraq over with. It is time to just cut the Iraqi government a check, wish them the best of luck, and then pack up and leave. That is my opinion, but everyone in this country is entitled to their opinion as well. I have read blogs from self proclaimed veterans who are of the opposite opinion of the author above. I don't know if they are who they say they are, or if this woman is who she says she is. It really doesn't matter if they are or not. There is no military service requirement to state your opinion. I don't have to be shot at or experience war to know that it is bad. I am sorry that the author of this blog had to find out the hard way that the government tells lies, but it does.

I find it odd that she says that death, lies, and the Iraqui hostility are things we know nothing about. It seems like that's all I ever read in the news. Her story might carry more impact for her, but it's nothing I haven't already seen on the news, read in the paper, or heard on the radio. The only news I trust is from soldiers I have met. I had one uncle serve in afghanistan and my parents both work with active-duty soldiers (they always get into our bar for free). And while the above is true, a fair number have come back saying that though they are tired and angry, the civillians are glad to have our support. Not a universal truth by any means, but the people attacking our troops and the ones we're protecting are different. At least as far as these returning soldiers have said to me. I will concede, however, that the number I have met personally is too small to be considered representative of the whole. This letter, however, has such an inflammatory tone I can't help but doubt its veracity. Why does she say so little about the man she loved save his death and loss? The same for her father who served in Vietnam. She stacks on her attacks but doesn't support them, relying on the speed to drive the message home without backing it up.

It would not surprise me if it were true. My brother, who has done two tours in Iraq, has a similar attitude about the whole thing. I have other family members, and too many friends and aqaintances to even begin counting, that have done multiple tours of duty in the middle east. All have varying degrees of positive or negative opinions. I cannot think of one that has the same positive blind agreement with our administration, as they did in the beginning.

why would someone automatically question the validity of that letter? my fiance (and Dom) is currently active enlisted in the US Army and he has served two tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. only 18 more months to go and we're both hoping he doesn't get sent back. because this time around his odds of coming home are greatly depreciated. that letter sounds about right to me. true, people didn't get drafted to go, but a lot of these people joined the military after 9/11 to do their part.. it's not really their fault that they were led there by lies and now they are coming home in boxes. i still don't see how this letter would immediately raise suspicion in some people. it really does smack of everything i've heard from my fiance, my friends and family that is over there. i don't think anyone feels that we're needed there. i'm sorry some people look toward authentification of the letter rather than the content which is applicable to pretty much everyone over there. i know a marine over there who has never seen his twin daughters. his greatest fear is that he'll die before he ever gets to hold them. btw, they're 13 months old now. and he's never seen them once.

This letter hit far too close to home. I just returned from visiting my niece, whose six years in the US Navy was up literally 48 hours ago. Her husband, whom she married last October, a US Marine, is still in San Antonio, TX, waiting around till it's 30 days from the end of his enlistment (terminal leave), then he'll join her, and their three-month-old son at her parents' home in Virginia. Then, they all travel to North Carolina for the closing on the home they just bought. He decided to re-enlist. Which means, he'll be deployed to Iraq. My niece seems to be okay with the idea, but personally, I'm terrified for her. They have their whole lives ahead of them. I don't want her to get the same visit from the two uniformed visitors. I can feel the author's rage and frustration and tears. She's probably a lot more eloquent than I would be, in her shoes.
