What kind of different food do you eat in the summertime that you don't eat during the rest of the year or don't eat as much of during the rest of the year?
For me it's Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomatoe sandwhiches!
We have farm stands here where local farmers bring their goods for sale.
They have wonderful "Beefsteak" tomatoes and lettuce grown only about 15-20 miles away.
And the lady I buy from has a sign on the front of her stand; "All produce grown and picked by American labor!"

Edited to add; And there is nothing like a fresh picked tomatoe!
They have that real "tomatoey" taste that you just can't get from those hard as a rock chain supermarket tomatoes.
Once in a while I'll eat one with salt on it.
They are a little more expensive but not that much and they're worth it!

OMG yesssssss, fresh tomatoes!! Also the sweet corn is in full swing right now, I can make a meal of that. Love the fresh greenbeans steamed with some butter on them. Zuchini, fried pumpkin blossoms, and fried zuchini blossoms. Fresh peaches, raspberries and cantelope. There are just too many wonderful things to list.

That's the best way to eat a tomato...fresh off the vine with a little salt on it *nodnod*

On the subject of "summer" foods...a plate of sliced tomato & fresh mozzarella with fresh crushed basil and a tiny bit of olive oil....nummy.

Tigresse, yeah, that stuff is all good too!
When I was growing up we never had lettuce and tomatoes except in the summertime when you could get them in the supermarkets or in your backyard garden.
Oh and the Peaches they have here in S. Carolina are great!
And, you forgot WATERMELLONS!!!

Tomato salad. I can eat it everyday in the summer with fresh italian bread. Delicious. And fried zucchini.

I feel like I eat more fresh veggies and fruits in the summer than I do in the winter. During the winter I eat more meat, and fish. But I eat fresh meat, not that store bought crap that's been put thruogh a processor and had chemicals added to it.

More fresh fruit and veggies, less soup and beans. I absolutely love fruit salad with just some lemon juice and splenda. I also eat more ice cream but always no sugar added, low fat varieties.

One correction as to how to eat a freshly picked, sun-warmed tomato......ya gotta have SUGAR, not salt! Living here in AZ, there is no place to get all the fresh home-grown produce I grew up with in upstate NY....I'd give my left nut to have a NYS apple...those washington ones are awful! And the sweet corn....mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! And I eat watermelon like it's going out of style.....breakfast, lunch or dinner!

I try to scarf up whatever decent produce I can find.....right now, I'm eating blueberries by the pint...literally! I tend to eat more soups and chili in the summer, not sure why, but I grew up eating the stuff year around, in the summer, there's nothing better than chili cooked over a camp fire.....once it's in the pot, it's pretty much simmer til ready.

And Ben and Jerry's has a new ice cream out......so I'm getting all of that that I can!

I've only got a window box this year so I'm making do with cherry tomatoes from the box and what I can find at the farmer's markets around town. Soon enough my salads will go back to having no tomatoes as will my sandwiches but while the real ones are available I'm getting all I can.

Got a nice assortment of leaf lettuce along with a couple of real nice cukes and some basil and a few balls of organic fresh mozzarella so that is going to be a salad for my lunch tomorrow.

The other thing I seem to eat more of in the summer is sausages. I really like a hot dog in the summer and grilled bratwurst are great cookout food.

Maryland Silverqueen sweet corn rocks. Have not ate any yet this summer. We have a bad drought, it will be expensive, but worth it.

Oh heck yes, being here in Minneapolis food is a very seasonal thing.
We have huge farmers market's to go to and get homegrown fresh produce in the warmer months.

I indulge in watermelon, sweet corn, avocado's(guacamole), strawberries, grapes, peaches.
I love making cold dishes too like; Tuna Macaroni and potato salads, wrap sandwishes. I make really good refridgerator pickles, salsa with the sweet juicy off the vine tomato's. Spinach dip is always something I make during the Summer.

And grilled foods of course.
I love to grill veggies too, green peppers, eggplant and portabella mushroom burgers, yummmmm!

Ice cream, frozen yogart, Italian ices all taste so much better in the Summer to me.

Fresh fruits, salads of all types, smoothies in a blender, bar-b-que of all kinds (meat, fish, veggies), mojitos, sangria and good qualtiy cold beer!

You can fry zuchini blossoms, LaT? I finally tried fried green tomatoes at the downtown bar-b-que place here. They are very tasty.

Being from Indiana, it's for sure the fresh corn on the cob, cooked on the grill. I also love fresh (atleast as you can get) pineapple on the grill. I love all kinds of fruit and veggies, this time of year is a vegetarians dream. You can still do it the rest of the year, but you can for sure taste a difference in the quality. Sadly I don't have tomato vines this year, but next year I will plant tons of them. A treat is fried green ones right off of the vine, cooked in a bit of olive oil...yummmm.

Hm. Living in Hawaii means I get to have locally-grown "seasonal" favorites pretty much all year-round. The heat is ghastly though, and I end up eating a lot of guri-guri and shave ice. Guri-guri is like a cross between ice cream and sherbert, and is usually made with fruit juice, soda pop, and sweetened condensed milk. Shave ice is like a snow-cone, but the ice is much finer, more like light, powdery snow than a cup of ice chips.

I'm tagging on to LaTigresse's post, just so I can mention how cute her hair looks.

I eat as lot more watermelon in the summer ... which is something I eat a lot of anyway. Like many college students, I drink a little more in the summer, not having classes to worry about.
