That's some good sh*t. The clip with "Kiss" brought back some memories. :)

Happy trails, Tom.

Morning, k. I remember staying up to watch that show with KISS, and taped it on a little handheld cassette deck

Here's the whole thing, I think:

Gene and Paul were NOT happy with Ace and Peter lol.

Morning, Level

I remember watching their movie, their records were the first I ever owned (along with REO Speedwagon), and dressing up like them for Halloween.

Looking at the Halloween pics is a little embarrassing now, but hey, I know I was happy about it then. lol

Thank you for the links.

Looks like Ace and Peter might have been a little stingy with the happy grass. lol

Perhaps it was a team sacrifice to get Ace to talk... oopps, worked a little too well.

I spent many an evening watching Tom do his late night magic.  He always asked the questions that everyone else shied away from and got some amazing answers.  Watching his interviews was some of the best television I have ever seen.  RIP Tom.  You will be missed.

Wow how sad!  I love Tom and his colortini's.....Truly entertaining, truly delightful, and class all the way.  I wonder if Ollie (sheepdog) is still around.

Edited to add:  Thanks for the YouTube link, Level.  It was nice to be reminded of how brilliant he was.  And that laugh!  I miss that laugh...

Actually, if they're telling the truth, and I think they are, Gene and Paul have always been interested in getting laid and paid, they weren't into getting high, which caused a large amount of the problems they faced with Ace and Peter (both of whom loved getting shit-faced).

KISS was my favorite band, growing up. I remember staying home to watch this interview (even though I felt, at this time, as though KISS had "sold out" to Disco).

Later on, I got to meet all four of them (at different times) and they pretty much knew that the band was dead, when they did this interview. The one part I remembered (before viewing this) was that Gene corrected Ace, when he mentioned being "high". Gene quickly said: "You mean 'drunk', of course".

It was this show that "turned me on" to Tom Snyder. He was great at what he did.

I'm still a huge KISS fan . Hell, I even like most of Unmasked lol.

That episode was the first time I remember seeing Snyder, too. Though it was easy to poke fun at him (ala Dan Akroyd), I always got a kick out of watching him.

I used to watch Snyder all the time. I have always been a night owl, and around here they stuck him in either the midnight or one AM slot. I liked the non-entertaining style, more intellectual discussions.

Perhaps you can help me out here. If I am not mistaken, at one time he went to prison to interview Charles Manson. This was a very long time ago, and I did record it, ON BETA ! I really do think it was him that did that.

The thing about this interview is that he engaged Manson in a pretty coherent conversation, and Manson made some good points. Points about society and psychology that I did not expect.

Now was that Tom Snyder or that other guy ? Not Jim Lehrer, damn, I just can't think of his name right now.

I would really like to have a recording of that interview. Manson is intelligent, but of course fucked in the head. But through this interview you see how he became the leader of his little group. In the interview he didn't really get on the defensive so much.

I thought it very interesting.

Dammit. I was going to click on the link but no. I am going to make a concerted effort to find a way to save youtube content.

Did you watch it ? Part one is probably better anyway. Toward the end Manson started showing his dementia.

I'm gonna miss that laugh of Tom's

I used to watch Tom all of the time.....I'm truly sorry that he died....But I gotta admit he did have somewhat of a greezy, pervy thang going on.  Probably just one of the reasons I watched.

You will be missed.

I did see the interview back when it originally came out, but I remember little about it. I did watch part 1 just now, too. Snyder was fascinated by Manson, you can tell.

As much as I love KISS, and knowing that, to a large degree, Ace and Peter made their own messes, I hate seeing both of them treated like red-headed stepchildren by Gene and Paul. They made them sign contracts, handing over rights to their characters, which is why you have Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer wearing their costumes/makeup, now

hmmm...that part I didn't know....doesn't seem really fair, no.

I was wondering why they didn't create their own, like the late Eric Carr did when he was the fox...and yes he was...wink wink
