A sub mentioned to me in passing that most Doms prefer subs to quote poetry. This is new to me. It immediately brought memories of shool and an English master who used beat out the rhythm of the bar with his rule on the desk top.

This I thought suggested opportunities and wondered quite which verses would be suitable for a sub to recite as I beat out time on her well stretched arse.

Suggestions please from all you sadists and masochists too.

I've never heard of Doms wanting subs to quote poetry.  But you could have your sub compose poetry as you swat her - "Ode to Master's paddle..."

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: poem for a sub (7/25/2007 1:52:40 PM)

Thank goodness I've never had anyone ask for that- I'm not a poetry fan.

But if you must, please consider going with the truly great and respected ones- not a newbie femslave spilling her slaveheart onto the page worse than an angsty crushing 13 year old.

salacioussquiz -> RE: poem for a sub (7/25/2007 1:57:00 PM)

Ooooh no if i think of poetry, i start thinking of things like : "I wish i was a little grub with whiskers on my tummy, I'd climb into a hunny pot and make my tummy gummy !". . . . . not very relevant but when someone says poetry it's things like that that come to mind! ( If that doesn't earn a good thrashing nothing will!)

earthycouple -> RE: poem for a sub (7/25/2007 2:18:58 PM)

I have no desire to hear you or any submissive quote poetry

kittensmailbox -> RE: poem for a sub (7/25/2007 2:21:53 PM)

if someone cant say anything nice, why even bother posting?

givemyall -> RE: poem for a sub (7/25/2007 2:43:59 PM)

I was joking SC but here you go - a poem or thereabouts

I am a lifelong subby

But I love a real good spanking
Cos it knocks off the mould

Because someone asked a question, she answered, and she answered truthfully.  If you find that not "nice," so be it.  We don't live in a warm, fuzzy world where every word that issues forth from everyone's mouth makes us all happy and smiley.  Having been around these forums awhile, you should have realized that by now.  Donna didn't say anything rude, she stated her opinion.  It's on you if you find that troubling and rude...............luci

I suppose it's a personal preference.

Personally, I find it obnoxious and irrelevant.. and so do most people with whom I've discussed the trend.

amaidiamond -> RE: poem for a sub (7/25/2007 3:16:17 PM)

Subs are meant to quote poetry?.. Umm..we are? *scratches head*

adoracat -> RE: poem for a sub (7/25/2007 3:17:55 PM)

i've been quoted poetry.  during the right setting....its a beautiful thing, especially if someone takes the time to think about what they're saying, or pick something wonderful to read aloud.

during a scene?  i honestly dont think that's the right time or place...

kitten, whose Sir quoted from Byron in a conversation last night....

I don't know - I can kind of see an interesting thing occuring here.  Getting a s-type or bottom to learn a piece of writing and get them to recite it whilst being thrashed could assist with self discipline and a good concentration technique - the more complicated the better.

The thing is the Sir never asked anyone for their opinion. He asked for poetry.  If one didn't have any then that would be a good point to click to another thread.  Not make an irrelevant post.  (I'm sure the free speech blah blah crowd will come and totally derail the man's thread but what else is new.)

And kitty, I've asked that question before. I think they hand out free sulphuric acid when some people log in here.

Poetry can be beautiful, but I've never required it.  It sounds a bit romantic and I'd rather not have the "L" word thrown around right now.

And some of us do sound nasty or sarcastic sometimes, just remember that we're only human.  Some things strike us badly or we say something that is taken the wrong way.  I took that response to say she didn't want poetry, not that she was being insulting.

Kind of like this one?  You didn't quote poetry so you shouldn't have posted?  The "Sir" needs to realize that once a question is posted, all kinds of answers will follow.  Not all will be exactly what he asked about.  But he wasn't the one complaining though.

What Donna said didn't derail anything.  However you and I having this exchange comes close, I suppose.  But it all started with another irrelevant post by kitten in the first place.  I'm proud to be part of that irritating, blathering "free speech crowd."  You've said your piece, I've said mine.  Now all those just beating down the door to quote poetry here (where are they?) can have it, eh?[;)]

Naw....some just have it naturally.  This thread is nothing compared to most, esp. in the "Off Topic" area.  We're all grown and I think most can handle themselves just fine..............luci

MasterMataeo -> RE: poem for a sub (7/25/2007 6:55:57 PM)

I prefer if a sub is going to do poetry,, it be her own ,, unless it's a good quote,, but I don't require it ,, I prefer it as a reward,, to her and myself  to hear her poetry , for I know that she has put the time and effort into it and would be proud  to let me hear it ,,

Ta dah!!!!!!!!!!
No sooner said than done....wonderful to be so predictable isn't it?

And I sent him some suggestions on the other side. Would you like a copy?  Just because everyone else is doing it doesn't make it right...one of the things they teach in philosophy, fallacies.

NefertariReborn -> RE: poem for a sub (7/25/2007 7:04:44 PM)

And because I live up to My word not to derail threads...I'll exercise good judgment and clickety click ....

My apologies Slimcontroller....
