MEDINA, Ohio -- Despite e-mails from readers asking him to save her, "Funky Winkerbean" creator Tom Batiuk says the comic strip character Lisa Moore will succumb to breast cancer.

Batiuk, 60, himself a cancer survivor, said the miracle some readers are hoping for won't happen.

"I honestly don't think readers know what they want," he said. "They think they know what they want. But what they really want is for me to give them a surprise every now and then."

WASHINGTON - President Bush signed an executive order Friday prohibiting cruel and inhuman treatment, including humiliation or denigration of religious beliefs, in the detention and interrogation of terrorism suspects.

The White House declined to say whether the CIA currently has a detention and interrogation program, but said that if it did it must adhere to the guidelines outlined in the executive order. The order targets captured al-Qaida terrorists who have information on attack plans or the whereabouts of the group's senior leaders.

Did it have a brain in it?

Was there any evidence of recent (in the past 6 years) use?

Durnit, Level!  I was gonna launch a "Cheney to assume power tomorrow!" thread with that colonoscopy story.  It seems the Pres. will be under anesthesia for the procedure.

My particular, personal values won't let me run with the obvious jokes, but I won't give any crap to anybody who wants to [8|].
