I think this all started with Leslie Visser on Monday Night Football back when it was on ABC. Not that Leslie Visser was the incarnation of every man's ideal babe, but I think she was the first female sportscaster to emphasize that she was female (unlike, you know, that annoying freak who broadcasts the Yankee games on the radio--Susan Waldman, something that like).
But these chicks don't last too long. Who remembers Melissa Stark (who really is quite beautiful, actually)? Or, better yet, Lisa Guerrero, whose stated goal in life was to unseat Melissa Stark? I think the only one who ended up with any kind of long-term broadcasting career was Hannah Storm--and she did most of it on mainstream network television after leaving ESPN.
