How Murdoch had a hotline to the PM in the run-up to Iraq war
http://news.independent.co.uk/uk/politics/article2782514.ece

Tony Blair had three conversations with the media magnate Rupert Murdoch in the nine days before the start of the Iraq war, the Government has disclosed.

So basically, it was all sewn up thanks to Mr Media.

Maybe we can send him the bill...

I wonder how well Murdoch will get on with Brown. I suspect not too well, in the long run.

i love quotes:

The business of the New York journalist is to destroy truth; to lie outright; to pervert; to vilify, to fawn at the feet of Mammon; to sell his country and his race for his daily bread. We are the tools and vessels for rich men behind the scenes. We are intellectual prostitutes."
John Swinton, editor of the New York Tribune, called by his peers, "the dean of his profession," was asked on February 26th, 1936, to give a toast before the New York Press Association.

"Our job is to give people not what they want, but what we decide they ought to have."
Richard Salant, former president of CBS News.

Yep, newspaper proprietors are more important than the people. I always knew Blair was a dangerous vacuous slimeball even before his first election victory, I just can't understand why other people didn't see it too.

The real problem is that most people have been brainwashed and believe the rightwing media and are more interested in the twisted lives of celebrities and are suspicious of the moderate left for being interested in the truth, even though most times they are right and the right are liars.

i would add ignorance.  i just watched a BBC Auschwitz vid...   was amazing and i mean completely amazing!  Many of the arguments the nazis used to do the atrocities they did are the "exact" same arguments people are making here in this very site.   Likewise many of the same arguments the victims have against it are the very same arguements that people who oppose the war are making.  In the end nuremburg determined the ones who were against were correct.   i think that speaks very loudly to the course this country is on and the bankrupt mentality fueling it.  The only thing missing is cyclon-b

oh ps:  this vid had actual nazis who mowed innocent people down and watched them fall into ditches as well as their victims who survived for these interviews.
