I have these GORGEOUS collages that I make.  Some of them are big, and some of them are small... and I can make them with a specific theme in mind.  I love doing it, and I have been looking for a way to get that information out there so that I could make my hobby become profitable.

I don't have the money to create a website... Nor do I really know how.

What other venues can I use to get the word out about my artwork?

Cafe Press maybe?...or even Ebay...depending on the types of collages....a lot of the retro/shabby-chic stuff sells very well on Ebay *nod*...especially if they're in a frame or ARE a frame

It has been recommended to Myself a few times as a good place to sell personal artworks. Also being a community with a forum to post on, you may find other supports and avenues of generating revenue.

Good luck with it all...it always feels good to get some of your stuff out there

Hi. That's pretty good advice so far. There's a place called Deviant Art that sells your prints as well. I'm not sure what type of collages we're talking about. If they are for print there are a lot of options all with pros and cons. I have sold a lot of clothing and other prints with Cafepress and it's been really rewarding and hassle free. If the collages are one of a kind there is a lot to consider about them before really knowing the best way to sell them online or anywhere else. I'd love to know more about the art.

My collages are paper on paper, essenntially.  I always make a copy to keep for myself, because I really enjoy them... i have given them away in the past, but i believe its my gift to be able to do this.

I use everything from stickers to magazines... some of them even have like... 3d type things on them as well.

Its what I am good at.

Thanks for some great advice.

Some of the topics for collages in the past have been things like "boys kissing" "passion" "conformity"... i made one about my relationship with my mom... I made a "my favorite things" collage... they could BE framed...

Its just like anything else, really.  Pretty versitile. Ofcourse it takes some expenses to get going... I would love to have someone design a site for me, but thats a tremendous expense...

One thing about selling artwork is that often you can't use copyrighted images like the kinds that are in magazines and licensed stickers. You can make custom collages for people and you can probably sell originals but you have to watch out what your source photos are. Reproduction is very expensive so you probably won't be doing that before selling original pieces. How long does it take you to make one 5x5 collage?

I would say, If it was for someone... about a week.  When I make them for myself, it just takes as long as I want it to.

I just checked out art wanted, (from what you have said about your work satyrsnymph, it doesn't look like the site would be good to sell your work. considering the original pieces and all.) But I love this site so far, I saw so many prints/posters that I want!

I wish I could get a look at them. I'd have better answers for you then. Not knowing too much about them I can only say, take them to a Gallery and get a rep? Enter a fine arts festival and purchase a 10x10 booth space to sell them? Im not sure how serious you are about making money. So Im not sure what your willing to do. Good luck though. xo Sophie
