NEW YORK - A soldier who recently returned from Iraq has admitted he paid someone $500 to shoot him in the leg so he could avoid returning for another tour.

Jonathan Aponte, 20, claimed he had been robbed and shot but changed his story when police questioned him, authorities said. Aponte, who was facing another eight-month tour, had been scheduled to leave last Monday.

Did you see this story?  It's a reservist who feels that four tours is enough and is wanting to block his fifth deployment.

If enough of them do, that's when "don't ask, don't tell" will come to a screeching halt.

No, this is a crybaby that hasn't even finished his initial obligation, to the contract he signed.  It says it all in the article, he hasnt had as much time away as any of the other troops that are facing their second or even third 12 MONTH deployment.  He signed the contract, nobody twisted his arm, and I'll bet he was quick to accept financial assistance for his degree, along with the monthly pay he's recieved.
If I sound bitter, it is because the only time you hear anything about the troops it this negative crap from the few, not the good stuff from the many.
Go ahead and flame me if you want, I really dont care, I did my time and then some, if you cant live up to your word, dont give it.

The only crybaby whining I see is you slagging someone who served 7 months in Afghanistan.

Yeah, but you have to prove it...

I wouldn't call someone who has gone to Iraq three times and to Afghanistan once a crybaby.  But that's just me.  He went each time, as requested, he received an exemption to pursue his education.  Wouldn't it make more sense for him to be deployed for 12 consecutive months than the picemeal stuff they've been doing to him?  I don't see this as his fault.

If only people could do such things to get out of marriages, Crutch & Cane Inc.'s stock would sky rocket.

Yup.  No spitting and you can't bring along a hot Domme in a leather half-bra to tell you to, either.

I personally suspect a friendly fire incident with the "gay bomb."
